Andrew Goodall; Managing Director, Brunswick DevelopmentsAndrew Goodall Resized

Andrew moved to Brighton in 1981 to do a degree in finance and accountancy, joining KPMG in 1984 and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. The first audit was Brighton Marina Company on behalf of the original owners the year before it was acquired by Brent Walker.

27 years as Managing Director of Brunswick Developments Group PLC having founded the company for the purpose of undertaking residential and commercial development.  Brunswick has restored and converted large Regency properties in Brighton and Hove,

In 1996, Brunswick acquired Brighton Marina and achieved planning for an additional 650,000 sq.ft. of mixed use development.  The complex comprises retail, residential and leisure, including a multi-screen cinema, bowling alley and fitness centre.  In 2006 Brunswick achieved planning for a further 850 flats and additional restaurants, which are now under construction.

Chairman of Fonthill Foundation, an Educational Trust helping disadvantaged children locally and overseas.


Geoff Raw; Executive Director Environment, Development & Housing, Brighton & Hove City CouncilGeoff Raw Resized

Currently Executive Director of Environment, Development & Housing for Brighton & Hove City Council since Nov 2010. A member of the council’s Executive Leadership Team accountable for the commissioning and delivery of: Housing; Regeneration; Planning & Building Control; Transport; and City Clean & Parks services.

Previously worked for the Mayor for London as Director of Design, Strategy & Planning at the London Development Agency. Worked for the Housing Corporation as Assistant Director of Investment and National Housing Investment Programme Manager. Prior to that worked at HM Treasury.

As Director of Environmental Policy and Performance at London Borough of Brent commissioned environmental services and prior to that was Project Co-ordinator for the regeneration of Wembley. A professional town planner with experience at County and Unitary level.

Married with one daughter. Interests include martial arts, Shiatsu massage, cooking and gardening.


James Stevens; Head of UK Development & Fund Manager, Standard Life InvestmentsJames Stevens Resized

Responsibility for development activities across all real estate funds.

Standard Life Investments are an experienced developer, with an extensive track record of completed projects of over £3bn across all sectors. The business has a significant pipeline and takes a flexible approach to investment; working on a direct, partnership or funding basis.

Fund Manager for the UK Property Development Fund, a £400m leveraged closed ended limited partnership.


Richard Upton; CEO, Cathedral Grouprichard-upton Resized

Richard was appointed to the Board of Development Securities in May 2014 following the company’s acquisition of Cathedral Group, a company he founded in 1998.

Cathedral Group, under Richard’s direction, has established an enviable reputation for building highly complex, mixed-use regeneration schemes, often in partnership with local authorities, delivering new public facilities on publicly-owned land, funded wholly by private, speculative development. Cathedral’s commitment to community building, sustainable socio-economic development and The Arts characterises its operations.  Richard is a member of the London Advisory Committee for English Heritage.


Nick Russell; Director, Venue VenturesNick Russell Resized

Nick is the founding Director of IPW… he has over 25 years experience advising public and private sector clients on sport, leisure, social infrastructure and cultural development and financing vehicles.

He is a former Head of Sport and Regeneration at KPMG and former Managing Director of PMP (sport and leisure consultancy).  Nick led the Government advice on PFI/PPP structures and standard guidance in leisure and libraries sector and has delivered over £1bn of projects in sport and leisure sector.

A leading international advisor on sport leisure and culture, Nick specialises in the funding and development of cultural venues.
