She has over 20 years of regeneration experience, predominantly in the north of England which has included roles in local government as well as within the URC Tees Valley Regeneration where she was project director for the Victoria Harbour port rationalisation and redevelopment project in Hartlepool and the North Shore development scheme in Stockton. Currently head of service with Durham County Council, she is responsible for economic development, skills, delivery of physical development and regeneration, business support through Business Durham, tourism through Visit County Durham and all aspects of housing, including the building of new homes for market sale and rent. Sarah has been a non-executive director of a large north-east based social landlord for the last 9 years and has recently led the large scale voluntary transfer of the Councils 18,500 homes to the newly established County Durham Housing Group. Simon Goon, Managing Director; North East Technology Park Simon is MD of Business Durham, the economic development company for County Durham, delivering the environment for business and economic growth. Following a PhD in Organic Chemistry Simon held several technical and commercial roles within the fine chemical & pharmaceutical industry with Cambrex and Rhodia Pharma Solutions overseeing R&D , new product introduction, account management and life cycle management of products sold into bluechip pharmaceutical and FMCG companies. After a decade, Simon became Head of Business Investment at One North East (ONE). Delivering NE England’s inward investment, account management, key sector development strategies and access to finance. Simon left ONE to form Key Strengths Ltd to provide strategic consultancy and support helping organisations to develop, change and implement strategy. Simon holds a PhD and BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, is chartered Chemist and member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Institute of Directors. Neil McMillan, Development Director; Carillion Developments Geoff Hunton, Director; Merchant Place Developments Architecturally trained, Geoff qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Project Manager and has over 40 years experience in creating developments and project managing in both public and private sectors. Geoff specialises in ‘Value for Money’ targeting to ensure every project is completed on time, within costs and to a high standard.
