Impact Healthcare REIT – Simon Gould, Development Director

Impact Health REIT are a leading healthcare focused real estate investment trust with a portfolio worth over £460 million and 4,274 registered beds. They are in advanced negotiations to acquire six portfolios, consisting of 27 separate care homes, for a total of £169m. Simon is a noted expert in healthcare property sustainability, and will discuss Impact Health’s robust approach to decarbonisation and the work they are planning to achieve net-zero across their portfolio.

Gbpartnerships – Jonathan Wilson, Strategic Estates Lead

Gbpartnerships are experts in healthcare property development and have completed projects worth in excess of £300 million. They have a significant development portfolio which includes an extension to Crawley Hospital, a new medical centre in Stourport and numerous GP surgeries.

The Patients Association – Lucy Watson, Chair

The Patients Association is an independent patient charity campaigning for improvements in health and social care for patients. As well as working with patients directly they also speak to government, the NHS and other stakeholders to ensure patients priorities are at the forefront of thinking. Lucy will provide some thought leadership on the importance of ensuring the views of patients are taken into account when decisions on healthcare estates development and management are being taken, and the link between healthcare estates and patient wellbeing and safety.

 

Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust – David Shannon, Director of Strategic Development

Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of nearly 550,000, with an annual budget of £250 million and over 4,000 staff. The trust is carrying out two major capital development projects at their main Musgrove Park Hospital with a new surgical centre and acute assessment hub to be constructed, with a much larger £450 million upgrade planned for the middle of the decade. David will discuss the two year project, and how it will ensure the trust can continue to provide world class care.

 

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust – Finbarr Murray, Managing Director

2gether Support Solutions are a wholly owned subsidiary of East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. With a turnover of £100 million and 1,300 staff they aim to secure strong core facilities and support services for the long term. Finbarr will outline their approach to estates development and management, and the upcoming projects they are working on

 

NHS Property Services – Aahsan Rahman, Head of Town Planning

NHS Property Services is a government-owned company which exists to help the NHS get the most from its estate, so that healthcare professionals can focus on delivering excellent patient care. Its portfolio more than 3,000 properties with 7,000 tenants across England, with a total value of more than £3bn.

Aahsan will discuss the potential of tapping into the town planning system to benefit the NHS estate with a particular focus on developer funding such as Section 106 and Community Infrastructure Levy, and how they can be used to complement investment in new hospitals and health infrastructure.

 

Willmott Dixon – Anastasia Chrysafi, National Account Manager, Health

Willmott Dixon has developed a suite of pre-designed healthcare products. Cura is a primary and community health and care facility which responds to the NHS Transformation Agenda. The Bridge is a patient hotel which addresses the need for step down care and potentially alleviating the pressure on acute care beds. Anastasia will discuss how the model can be used for both public and private sector healthcare development, will focus on some of their key upcoming projects and where there is opportunity for collaboration to bring these to fruition.

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust – Sunil Vyas, Director of Projects and Estates

Sunil manages the Royal Marsden NHS Trust estate across two major hospital sites and is involved in the improvements to the London Cancer Hub – a new 134,000 sq ft building, costing £50 million that will be a global centre for cancer innovation. The project as a whole will create 7,000 permanent life sciences jobs and another 6,200 during construction and Sunil will discuss the innovation and design needs for future projects of this scale.

Bryden Wood – Martina Cardi, Associate Architect

Following a Master’s Degree dissertation on healthcare architecture, I moved to London and joined Bryden Wood, establishing a key role in Bryden Wood’s healthcare team. I have been leading the architectural team for the 19,000m2 Circle Birmingham Hospital and Rehabilitation project, having been involved in the design from conception, contributing to the improvement in quality of the internal spaces for patients, staff and visitors. I have primarily focused on the refining the internal layout of the hospital, through the ongoing engagement of the stakeholders and user groups from existing Circle hospitals.

 

ABB Smart Buildings – Valeria Basile, Global Marketing Specialist

With ever increasing urbanization and the world forging ahead to create a low-carbon future, ABB is supporting with digitally connected, integrated solutions and services writing the future of safe, smart and sustainable electrification.

Valeria Basile has an International Managerial background from Bocconi University, and since 2 years she holds the position of Global Segment Marketing Specialist for ABB Smart Buildings.

Global market research and strategic approach towards Healthcare facilities is one focus area under her responsibility, to provide hospitals with new insights and possibilities to ensure needed level of comfort and safety of patients and occupants, as well as reliable, continuous and efficient operations.
