Dave Pringle; Director of NOMA, The Co-operative Estates

David Pringle is the Co-operative Group’s Director of NOMA. He is responsible for NOMA, the 20 acre mixed use neighbourhood in Manchester’s city centre being delivered in partnership with Hermes Investment Management, developing 4 million square feet of homes, offices, shops, restaurants, hotels and new public space.

The first phase of NOMA was the development of the Group’s 400,000 sq ft BREEAM Outstanding new Head Office, 1 Angel Square . David led the team responsible for the delivery of the new head office, which was completed in 2012 alongside the realignment and improvements to Manchester ring road, the first phase of public realm and services infrastructure improvements all to facilitate future phases.

David, his team and the joint venture partnership are now working on the next phases of NOMA which include the refurbishment of Hanover – an existing listed building to 93,000 sq ft Grade A offices with retail at ground floor, the second and third stages of public realm, the development of a 178 bedroom hotel, new office developments 2 and 3 Angel Square, and the delivery of Moda Living’s Angel Garden’s development of 458 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments.

Prior to heading up NOMA, David was the Groups Director of Investment and Property Strategy responsible for the Fund Management of the Group’s Investment and Development portfolios, the Renewables business and also providing strategic and general property advice to the trading groups’ businesses

Prior to joining the Group David was a director of Evans of Leeds, a property investment and development company based in Leeds.

Head of the Club’s work in Corporate Social Respnsibility and Infrastructure Development – the sustainable and viable development of Club estate and properties, sustainable procurement, responsible development, environmental, energy and ethical behaviour management. The engagement of Club and contractor partners in the employment, skills development and promotion of local people, business/industry intelligence and best practice.

Transformational change leader based on business growth and development within the public and private sectors, third sector leadership and leading trends (social and business) development and change for growth.

Innovative and visionary having brought about success in social investment, business management, capital programme and major/international events.

John Hughes; Managing Director, Ask DevelopmentsJohn Hughes Resized

John has over 16 years development experience and was recruited in 2003 from Henry Boot Developments, where he ran their North West commercial activities for three years.  He has gained considerable experience during his time at Ask in delivering highly complex, city centre office, leisure and retail projects, and joined the Board in 2008.

John has worked closely with some of Ask’s key strategic partners including Manchester City Council, Salford City Council and Network Rail.  He leads on Ask’s flagship development at First Street, where the next major phase of development commenced in Spring 2013, which will deliver 500,000 sq ft of hotel, leisure and car parking alongside HOME, the new venue for the merged Manchester arts organisations, Cornerhouse and Library Theatre Company which is being predominantly funded by Manchester City Council.

In addition to the First Street development, John took Ask into joint venture with Network Rail to deliver the 700,000 sq ft mixed use scheme at Embankment Greengate.


Tom Bloxham, Chairman; Urban SplashTom Bloxham Resized

Tom Bloxham MBE (49) is Chairman and major shareholder of award winning regeneration company Urban Splash, which has won 340 awards to date for architecture, regeneration, design and business success.

Tom is chair of the Manchester International Arts Festival. In 2008 he was elected as Chancellor of the University of Manchester and is a trustee of the Manchester United Foundation Charity. In 2009 he was appointed by the Prime Minister as a Trustee of the Tate.

Previously he was Chair of the Centre for Cities think tank, a position he held for five years until 2010. He was also a director of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture Company, Chair Arts Council England North West.

Tom was awarded an MBE in 1999 for his services to Architecture and Urban Regeneration. Other awards to date include; The College of Estate Management Property Award (2008); The RSA Bicentenary Medal (2008); North West Insider Property Personality of the Year (2004); Building Magazine Property Entrepreneur Award (2003); the Manchester Evening News Business of the Year Award (2002) and the Ernst & Young National Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (1999).

He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and has received a number of Honorary degrees and doctorates: Doctor of Design from University of Bristol and an Honorary degree from University of Manchester (2007); the Honorary degree of Doctor of Design from Oxford Brookes University (2004); he is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Central Lancashire (2003) and of John Moores University in Liverpool (2001). He also received an Honorary Fellowship to the University of Cumbria in 2010.

Tom started out selling fire extinguishers door to door, then while at Manchester University studying politics and history started selling sold records and posters from market stalls. He established and subsequently sold the Baa Bar chain as well as a local radio station.
