David Coles; CEO, Architect, David Coles ArchitectsDavid-Coles Resized

As founder of DCa in 1993, David heads the management of the practice, together with a key responsibility for new business activity and leading the practice towards growth and expansion.  He maintains an active role in projects and with clients at all stages to ensure high quality design and delivery.

Gained over 30 years, David has a wealth of experience in the commercial, retail, industrial, leisure, hotel, housing, education and health sectors, including work for the FCO on the British Embassy in Saudi Arabia.  His particular interest is the planning and concept stage of projects, getting the most out of difficult sites and often achieving high added value consents.  He really enjoys working with clients to add value – in the broadest sense.

David graduated from the University of Manchester and is a member of the RIBA, ARB and the RICS 1921 Club.  He has participated in a three day master class workshop at the Princes Foundation titled ‘Structuring Settlements – Tools for the New Urban Challenges’ and has taken part in the HCA workshops ‘Masterclass on Sustainable Communities’.  He has worked with design codes and ‘enquiry by design’ processes.

David has spoken on the subject of ‘tall buildings’ – ‘expanding upwards not outwards’ at Milton Keynes Council’s ‘Growth Partnership’ at the Stadium MK and has spoken to different professional groups on ‘Conflicting Values’.

David has been a Town Councillor for Olney, Chairman of the Olney Chamber of Trade and a community school governor.  He is a Founder Member of the Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce and led the ‘health-check’ appraisal for Olney, a government programme to stimulate the regeneration and competitiveness of market towns.

He loves to sail, is a qualified Day Skipper and has recently completed his Yachtmaster theory qualification.

Julie Pears; Director of Development, IntuJulie Pears

Simon Elcock; Strategic Project Director, Places for PeopleSilhouette Resized

Simon is a senior property professional who has played a key role in the evolution and delivery of a number of the most significant mixed-use regeneration and housing projects in London and the South East.

He has led the development and delivery of Places for People’s flagship Brooklands scheme which is located in Milton Keynes on a 360 acre site where the development will deliver over 2500 new homes, 3 schools, hotel, retail and commercial uses. The scheme is an excellent illustration of Places for Peoples vision of creating aspirational homes in inspirational places and has delivered significant portions of the physical and social infrastructure prior to the occupation of the new homes. Under Simon’s stewardship over 300 new homes are now occupied with a further 50 currently under construction.  Planning approval has been obtained for a further 680 homes that will be delivered as part of a joint venture.

Simon was instrumental in Places for People’s recent success in securing the 1500 home East Wick and Sweetwater development located in the Olympic Park in East London where he is currently progressing planning consents for the first phase.

Prior to joining Places for People Simon worked for Lend Lease leading the team that was selected by Southwark Council to deliver the redevelopment of the Elephant and Castle and he also played a key role in the small team that created the vision and obtained the planning approval for over 10,000 new homes and the O2 Arena at Greenwich London, at the time the UK’s largest ever planning consent.
