Cambridge Housing Ridgeons Development City Council Partner

An impressive new city centre housing scheme is set for the historic city of Cambridge – with council officials giving the thumbs up to starting demolition work on site. The development, brought forward by Cambridge City Council, will see the creation of almost 300 new properties, including 90 council houses, which will be built on the former Ridgeons site.

Cambridge City Council, who’re set to speak about developments across the region at our Cambridgeshire Development Plans Conference, recently secured £70m of funding from the Cambrudgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority and they’ll now take the 3.3-hectare site project forward – with warehouses currently occupying the area set to be knocked down.

Cllr Richard Johnson, Housing Executive at Cambridge City Council, said: “We’re aiming for up to 295 homes, with 118 being council homes. Obviously we can’t pre-empt the planning process but we’re working with planner to overcome any concerns before it gets to committee.”

The City Council will be represented at the Cambridgeshire Development Plans Conference by the Leader of the Council Cllr Lewis Herbert.
