There is a real confidence about the market in Birmingham and the West Midlands currently – and major developers and investors including Long Harbour, Galliard Homes and the University of Warwick are set to share details on how that is feeding into additional investment and development in the region at our West Midlands Development Conference later this week.

Connells, one of the leading estate agents in the city of Birmingham, are one of those at the forefront of that increased confidence – seeing ‘tremendous success’ over the past few years. But what has caused the upbeat in the market? Neil Swaffield, a Partner at Connells Birmingham city centre branch, gives us his thoughts:

“Over the past few years Connells have seen a dramatic shift of buyers, both home movers and investors from outer areas like London to Birmingham city centre aiding by projects such as HS2 and Smithfield, along with the relocation of larger banking groups’ headquarters. With this in mind, two years ago Connells put together a specialist new homes team in our Birmingham city office which has proved to be a tremendous success serving our developer clients and purchases a like.”

Discussing the positive marketplace Swaffield added: “All areas of our business from new home sales to mortgage services, conveyancing and lettings have seen a huge increase in numbers year on year. This has impacted on increased confidence in the local housing market, leading to more and more developments to be priced and delivered to the market.”

Connells are set to be at the forefront of the West Midlands Development Conference on the 24th January. Speaking of their involvement in the conference Swaffield said: “We’re very pleased to be a sponsoring partner for this Birmingham event. We deal with many schemes within the area and we’re really excited to be part of the Birmingham regeneration over the forthcoming years.”
