Countryside Properties Weston Homes Flagship South

The creation of a new village in Cambridgeshire which could provide 3,500 new homes has moved a step closer as a planning application has officially been submitted. The development, set to be housed on the Bourn Airfield brownfield site, is being brought forward by Countryside Properties who’re looking to transform the 210-hectare area into a vibrant new community.

Countryside Properties, who’ll be presenting details of the scheme and others in the region at the Cambridge Development Plans Conference, have set out their vision for the site which include:

·         3,500 new homes

·         2 primary schools and a secondary school

·         Community services including health facilities

·         Village centre including shops and leisure amenities

·         Open space, sports and leisure facilities

As standard with Countryside Properties developments they’ve concentrated on ensuring the project will deliver and great sustainable environment to help those in the area have a better and healthier way of life. They’ve also concentrated on creating excellent landscaping with the retention of existing woods, water features and more.

Andrew Taylor, Head of Planning at Countryside Properties and speaker at the Cambridge Development Plans Conference, said: ‘’Countryside is delighted to have submitted a planning application to create a new sustainable community at Bourn Airfield. Through collaboration with South Cambridgeshire District Council and the public we are passionate to make Bourn Airfield a place that will benefit new and existing residents.

He added: ‘’There is a massive need for more housing in Cambridgeshire, and by building at scale, we can also provide the infrastructure such as schools and transport that are needed to support new communities and which benefit the whole area. Our track record of place-making demonstrates we can make Bourn Airfield a village which meets the changing needs of people throughout their lives.’’

The Cambridge Development Plans Conference will hear from Mayor James Palmer, Flagship Group, Hill Group, Weston Homes and Countryside Properties. Tickets are £77 and can be purchased here
