Crewe Town Centre Empire Cinema Announcement Housing Property

The regeneration of Crewe has moved forward this week with the announcement of a new state-of-the-art cinema which will be the centre-piece of the Royal Arcade scheme proposed in the town centre. The cinema, set to have eight screens and hold 800 seats, is another development in the future vision for the area which will see the major impact of HS2’s arrival to the area.

Cheshire East Council, who’ll be sharing future details of the vision for the region at the HS2 Economic Growth Conference in November, selected Peveril Securities and Cordwell Property Group as their development partners for the site. They’re ‘delighted’ with the announcement of landed the cinema operator Empire Cinemas at the site and they’re also in conversations with other potential occupiers.

William Warrack, Director at Cordwell Property Group, said: ”We have had strong interest from another leisure operator and expect to be able to make a further announcement in the coming weeks. We’re also in discussion with a number of restaurant operators, who are keen to have a presence in Crewe, reflecting the growth of the town and current lack of restaurants in the locality.”

Cllr Ainsley Arnold, Cabinet Member for Planning, Housing and Regeneration at Cheshire East Council, added: ”This is great news for Crewe and only the start of delivering the council’s ambitious programme to regenerate the town centre which, along with HS2, will truly transform Crewe as a place to live, work and visit. Alongside investment from Cheshire and Warrington LEP, the council will be supporting the costs of the public elements of the scheme, including the new bus station, multi-storey car park and public realm.”
