PRESENTATIONS – MAJOR DEVELOPMENT PLANS

Five leading developers will share presentations on their ongoing and future development plans across West Yorkshire as they contribute to the economic growth story of the region. They’ll be leading key strategic developments to boost jobs, homes and opportunities.

  • Henry Boot Developments will share details on their 120-acre site in Wakefield with potential for over 1m sq ft of development – situated in a prime location on the edge of the M62
  • Palmer Capital will discuss their new brand Packaged Living focused on the Private Rented Sector (PRS) and what schemes they’ll be looking to help unlock in West Yorkshire.
  • Calderdale Council will reveal further information on their proposals for over £200m in transformational projects as part of Calderdale’s Next Chapter whilst giving insight into their plans for 9,500 new homes to drive affordable housing.

PRESENTATIONS – HOUSING & RESIDENTIAL PLANS

Four market leading players will share their ongoing and future residential and housing development plans for West Yorkshire through onstage presentations. With the increased employment opportunities set to come to the city through the ongoing and future developments in the pipeline, along with the arrival of Northern Powerhouse Rail and HS2, the region will need to accelerate the delivery of residential and available housing and our speakers will talk about those projects central to ensuring the housing needs are met. Presentations from speakers will include:

  • Avant Homes are increasing their operations to deliver 4,000 new homes by year – with West Yorkshire set to be a main focus for these builds.
  • Kirklees Council are planning to build 10,000 new homes by 2023 and they’ll talk exclusively on the potential sites, whilst looking to engage with developers and investors to unlock the opportunities.
  • Strata Homes are a prolific housebuilder across West Yorkshire and with several high-profile developments in the region they’ll be sharing plans of ongoing and future schemes.
  • Keepmoat Homes are expanding their Yorkshire team and they’re heavily involved in West Yorkshire – with current schemes including the £150m New Village development in Bradford – and they’ll share details of their future schemes.
  • Stonewater are looking to create new developments in the region as part of a business wide commitment to deliver more than 1,000 new homes per year, and they’ll be looking to engage with an audience who can help that happen.

PRESENTATIONS – INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PLANS:

We’ll be hearing about the key infrastructure projects and developments set to be undertaken across West Yorkshire which will be crucial to ensuring productivity improves across the region whilst delivering better connectivity between cities, towns and more rural areas. From physical infrastructure to innovative and digital connectivity we’ll be hearing about the key schemes and future visions for the region and how these will play their part in the economic growth story. Presentations from speakers will include:

  • How Leeds Bradford Airport is set to take advantage of the governments announcement that they’ll support the growth of regional airports, and how they’ll play a large role development opportunities in the region through increasing passenger and cargo capacity.
  • Transport for the North are making the case for pan-Northern strategic transport improvements which are needed to support transformational economic growth and they’ll present on the huge opportunities we can unlock through public and private sector collaboration – as alignment will be key to enhancing plans and inward investment into West Yorkshire.
  • Network Rail are central to the connectivity and infrastructure projects from a rail perspective – with Leeds, Halifax and Huddersfield just some of the stations set to be revamped, and new stations to connect urban areas of Leeds set to bring people much closer to the city centre and within touching distance of the employment opportunities which will be unlocked.
  • Leeds City Council will provide an overview of how infrastructure is essential and crucial to driving productivity and growth – in terms of physical infrastructure, along with digital connectivity, utilities and more – and highlighting future opportunities and the infrastructure vision for Leeds.

PRESENTATIONS – UNIVERSITY ESTATES DEVELOPMENT PLANS:

Four leading higher education institutions from across the region will share their future estate and property development plans as they look to increase student numbers and drive the development of skilled workers. Many of the Universities have plans to further expand their campuses and they’ll be giving details of the future vision for their estate and procurement opportunities. The following Universities will present about their plans before Leeds City Council’s Chief Executive Tom Riordan will chair a Q&A session with the institutions:

  • The University of Huddersfield is being transformed with over £70m worth of new buildings and development work and they’ll talk through their plans and opportunities to get involved.
  • The University of Leeds have been undertaking an ambitious overhaul of their estates, building new centres of excellence, driving the creation of student accommodation and more. They’ve still got a lot of projects in the pipeline and they’ll be giving information on their schemes.
  • Leeds Trinity University are leading the way in ensuring those passing through their University are getting straight into work! They’re going to be crucial to ensuring West Yorkshire is an attractive place to invest and build a business and they’ll talk through their strategy and how they’re contributing to the West Yorkshire economy.
