Harworth Ironbridge

A 350-acre site in the Midlands formerly housing the Ironbridge Power Station is set for a major regeneration – with plans likely to be submitted this autumn.

Harworth Group, who’ll be speaking at the Midlands Development Conference about this and several other major schemes, are currently working on these plans – with a second consultation likely to take place within the next few months, before the planning application is officially submitted towards the end of the year.

The company have already seen a lot of movement on the site that they purchased in June 2018 (from Uniper) including the submission of an environmental report which is sat with the local authority – Telford & Wrekin Council.

Iain Thomson, Director at Harworth Group, said: “We’re still working towards submitting a planning application in the autumn but we will be further consulting with the public on our draft plans at a second public consultation event to be held in late Spring, with the event covering the latest masterplan and the timetable for submitting the application.”

Harworth are now undertaking work to prepare for the demolition of the Power Station buildings and cooling towers – although some features are set to remain to keep the history of the site evident. They’ll be sharing details of the timeframes of work and procurement details for the next phases at the Midlands Development Conference.
