Bournemouth Lagoon Project Wavepool Watersports

Impressive plans have been revealed for a new £35m ‘waterpark’ in Bournemouth – titled the Lagoon Project. The vision for the 15-acre park is to create a tourist destination to attract visitors, families and surfers – with accommodation units and watersports.

The plans proposed include:

  • 145 bedroom hotel
  • Glamping and camping site
  • Tree houses and woodland lodges
  • Wave machine (with the capability of 2,400 waves per hour)

Bill Cotton, Director at Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council, said: “The Lagoon fits in with the coastal watersports lifestyle of the area, and would be an all-year round attraction.”

BCP Council will be represented by Bill at the Bournemouth Future Development Plans Event later this year where details on this any other development and regeneration projects across the region will be revealed. Click here to register >

Matt Radford, from The Lagoon Project, added: “This will be a destination for every family member to participate in the watersports as well as inland activites. This has been a dream of mine for years, ever since I wanted to teach my kids to surf in a safe and controlled environment. Here we are two years later, and my dream is stepping every closer to becoming a reality.”

Martin continued: ‘We have just hosted our first private pitch event to attract seed capital, and update interested parties, which turned out to be an incredible night for The Lagoon. We are seeking additional founder investors who would like to join us on the journey and a cornerstone investor at this exciting early development stage. Ideally a local entrepreneur from the sports, leisure or hospitality industries.’
