Old Oak and Park Royal is one of the most talked about development opportunities within the capital.

  • 1,600-acres
  • 40,000 homes.
  • 65,000 jobs.

It will create a brand new and thriving district within West London. The site will help tackle the expected growth in population that the capital is foreseeing – with an estimated 11m living in the Capital by 2050.

West London seems to be one of the destinations proving to be popular for potential developments. The turn of the millennium has seen a real focus on the area, from the growth of White City into a leading shopping and leisure venue to Crossrail driving new life into the suburbs it’s had some success stories of late. The £26 billion redevelopment and regeneration of Park Royal and Old Oak Common is set to become another – boosting housing numbers, increasing job opportunities in the region and ensuring high-quality connectivity to the rest of London through the new transport developments.

The site spans 1,600 acres – the largest within the UK. The creation of new homes will be a huge boost to housing numbers with the creation of 40,000 new homes, but the development will be creating massive potential for economic growth and jobs with retail and office space central to the plans – along with the impressive transport infrastructure connecting the community who live their to the rest of London, including through ambitious rail links with HS2, Crossrail and London Underground.

The vision is to create a place that Londoners want to live and work.

The creation of 65,000 new jobs will ensure that those within the community have the strong local amenities needed to create a new community. A new high street, retail stores and entertainment centres are just a few of those things within the proposals to supplement the site already at White City and Westfield London. Education will also be central to plans with many local schools within the plan along with a new £3bn campus for Imperial College London.

It’s expected that the local economy could contribute £7.6 billion per year to the UK economy.

The area is already known to have a strong group of manufacturing and logistics businesses working in the area – with 1,200 commercial tenants within the hub of London’s largest business park – and this could continue to thrive with the connectivity of HS2, Crossrail and more bringing the station within an hour’s commute of 150,000 jobs.

A world-class design will see the station become a beacon for UK construction and development, with the station set to serve 250,000 each day across seven rail lines. It’s set to be the only high-speed interchange that will be served by both Crossrail and the planned HS2 railway – with journey times to the City sitting at just 16 minutes once complete, 18 minutes to Heathrow, 23 minutes to Canary Wharf and 31 minutes to Birmingham Airport.

The economic benefits and development potential is set to take centre stage at the HS2 Economic Growth Conference later this year where we’ll be joined by key stakeholders from the Old Oak & Park Royal area – where we’ll be talking skills, housing, commercial, industrial strategy, challenges and much more. Join us there!
