A major development which would transform the former Preston Office Centre into flats has moved a step forward after receiving first stage approval. The news is another boost for the region which is set to see big benefits from HS2 and is undergoing some exciting developments in the city.

We’ll be hearing from Preston City Council at the Lancashire Development Plans Conference on the 7th March alongside three developers – with housing development a huge focus of the local authority.

It was first revealed in November last year that plans were in progress – and documents submitted to the town hall showed 108 apartments would be created, which could form a key part of Preston’s City Living ambitions. The initial submission from developers Trillium Property sought confirmation that a change of use request for the move from offices to flats wasn’t required, and this week the town hall approved the request. It now paves the way for the project to continue – with a full planning application now expected.

A report highlighting the request said: ”The information submitted with the application is satisfactory to enable the local planning authority to grant prior approval subject to conditions.

Developers Trillium Property said of the scheme: ”The building is highly suited to residential conversion. It can provide one and two bedroom apartments of the type, size and quality that is really needed in Preston to appeal to the young professional and post-graduate target market.”

Join us to hear more from Preston City Council, Blackpool Council and three key developers in the region at the Lancashire Development Plans Conference next month.
