The Sancta Maria Hospital is set to relocate in an exciting development as part of the SA1 Waterfront Project.

New images have recently been released which show what the private hospital would look like – a development which would employ around 175 people and treat around 3,000 patients, and be situated on Langdon Road. The hospital is currently awaiting the green light from Swansea Council and it would be set to replace the existing one in Ffynone, near Uplands.

Bosses at parent company Healthcare Management Trust believe that there is scope for future expansion at the two-acre plot and it will be a ‘state-of-the-art’ facility which, if all goes to plan, would open in 2020.

The site, which is currently a car park sitting alongside the Beacon Centre for Health was identified for office use in the SA1 masterplan. Initial consultation with the public in the area showed support for the scheme, however there were concerned raised on the infrastructure around access for staff and patients.

We’ll be hearing from the council at our Swansea Development Plans Conference on the 28th February 2018. Join us there.
