Spring and Company has been delivering property and construction services for over twenty five years – with offices in Stockport, Leeds and London. Ahead of the Manchester Development Plans Event – where they’re an event partner – we spoke exclusively to them about the industry as they shared their expertise…

Q. How would you define your corporate mission?

To deliver successful construction projects with our chosen partners that enhance the environment we live in.

To develop long-lasting relationships with our clients built on trust and mutual success.

To achieve this, we will employ the best people and encourage their continued development in a safe and ethical environment

Q. What services does Spring & Co specialise in?

Consultancy, bespoke contracting and development services. Here’s an overview of exactly where our expertise lies…

Q. At Spring & Co you’ve been providing construction services for the last 25 years, how has the industry evolved over that time? [emaillocker id=”71749″]

Up until late 2006-early 2007, there was a building boom that hit the UK that was unprecedented in recent history. The demand for construction was at its peak and the economy flourished because of it. Thereafter the country as a whole went into recession including the construction industry but this was eventually followed by an upturn especially in the residential sector which includes PRS, affordable living, city centre living and the private housing market.

Saying that, some of the big names in construction have fell by the wayside including Carillion, Pochin and Clugston

The introduction of Construction and Consultancy Frameworks has had a big impact – favourably for the larger companies but not so for SME’s.

Q. How do you see it evolving in the next 25 years?

Once Brexit has been finalised and the UK can operate independently again and make its own trade deals, there will be more investment from those countries from outside of the EU. A small of uncertainty will prevail at the beginning of this new era but eventually the UK will achieve economic stability encouraging investment from banks and private individuals.

New initiatives and innovations will continue to emerge and there will most certainly be a big push into modular and economically sustainable and environmentally friendly construction. AI and Digital construction will also play a considerable part in the future of how we procure buildings.

Although there has been a fall in the number of young people entering the construction industry, with a new era of optimism and digital technologies, construction will be seen as an industry to be part of.

Q. What have been some of the most game-changing projects you have been involved in over that time?

There have been a number of schemes we’re really proud to have been apart of.

King’s Court in Warrington is an example of a perfect regeneration partnership where we joined forces with Emerald Bay to convert a redundant office block in the town centre to residential apartments. Another in Warrington is Ashfield Court – a joint venture project that was hugely successful.

In the historic town of Harrogate we helped redevelop and reinvigorate the town through our Albert Street scheme, where we played a lead role in carrying our several elements of the project. These are just a few, and you can download some further details by clicking here.

 Q. What makes you unique as a service provider?

  • Outstanding performance and leadership
  • Commitment to health, safety and the environment
  • Open and effective communication
  • Accountability and discipline
  • Financial responsibility to our stakeholders
  • Mutual trust and integrity
  • Flexible
  • Driven by common-sense and practicability

Q. You’re sponsoring the upcoming Manchester Development Plans Event, what are you hoping to achieve from attending the conference?

We are passionate about the growth and development of the Greater Manchester area, working with local authorities and private clients.  We have been part of the Corn Exchange transformation for over 14 years and instrumental in the early years’ development of the Trafford Centre.  The main reason we are sponsoring the Conference Dinner is to show our commitment to the development happening in Manchester and to promote the services we can offer to carry the plans forward into the next decade.

We also hold greatly to our hearts the young generation and how we attract them to the industry. [/emaillocker]
