For 30 years Story Homes have been one of the names often associated with aspirational new build homes for sale throughout Cumbria, the North East, North West, Lancashire and Scotland. Their passion for quality and excellence has seen them become a multi-award winning UK property develop and we’re delighted to have them confirmed as a speaker for the Tees Valley Development Plans Conference in May alongside Darlington Borough Council, South Tees Development Corporation, PD Ports, Tees Valley Combined Authority, Muse Developments and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.

New housing developments have a real benefit for the whole community, through economic investment, job creation and retention, opportunities for suppliers and contractors, investment in community facilities, infrastructure, education facilities and much more. Ahead of the Tees Valley conference in Middlesbrough we take a look at some of the developments Story Homes have planned in the North East.

Blackwell Grange, Darlington

Status: Approved

Recently approved at the end of 2017 by Darlington Borough Council this proposal will see Story Homes create 59 high quality new homes in a sustainable and integrated development. The detached homes will range from four to five bedroom, nestled in a beautiful landscaped setting.

Great Burdon, Darlington

Status: Pre-Submission (Detailed Planning Application)

Working closely with Bellway Homes this joint venture is currently in the planning phase – with the home of creating 700 new homes over several phases. The development would be an important boost for the Borough’s housing needs, creating a mix of housing styles from detached to semi-detached with a percentage set to be affordable homes. A decision is anticipated during the course of 2018.

Middleton St George, Darlington

Status: Submitted (Outline Planning Application)

Land around Station Road in Middleton St George has been highlighted by Story Homes as a great location to build a quality new community of homes – with up to 226 proposed. The housing development would also see additional uses brought into play, with plan to facilitate the provision of a primary school included within the application. The development would deliver a mix of house types potentially including bungalows, terraced, semi-detached and detached dwellings with some of those new homes being affordable. A decision on the application is expected in the Spring of this year.

Thirsk Road, Kirklevington

Status: Submitted (Reserved Matters Application)

A reserved matters application has been submitted in another joint venture in the North East, this time with Jomast Developments. Plans would see 145 houses being development on a residential led site following Stockton-On-Tees Borough Council granting outline planning permission for the development site in March 2017. The next stages are now ongoing with the application decision expected in the Spring of 2018. The development would deliver a mixture of housing types from 3-bedroom semi-detached to 5-bedroom detached homes with around 15% of homes being affordable 2-3 bedroom dwellings. Other provisions would see a community shop, multi-use games area, car park and public open space in a development which will create a real community feel.

Tunstall, Hartlepool

Status: Approval Pending (Detailed Planning Application)

A 153-home proposed development as part of a hybrid planning application for up to 208 homes. Proposals would see the deliver of detached and semi-detached dwellings.

Burdon Lane, Ryhope

Status: Pre-Submission (Detailed Planning Application)

A proposal is being prepared by Story Homes for a development in Ryhope, which sits just south of Sunderland. Plans are expected to highlight the opportunity for the initial creation of 150 new homes, with a wider development opportunity which could see 1,000 new homes, retail provision, sports and recreation facilities, community uses and open spaces. The residential elements would be a variety of styles and some would be affordable. The application is expected to be submitted in early 2018.

Consultation took place with the local community in December, where Story Homes shared details and received feedback which is currently being reviewed.

West Middle Callerton, Newcastle

Status: Submitted (Detailed Planning Application)

Detailed proposals have been submitted for this site, which sits in Callerton on the northern outskirts of Newcastle. Initial plans for 244 new homes are part of those plans which form part of a wider joint reserved matters application for 507 homes on the site. Newcastle City Council gave the green-light to the development of the land back in November 2016 when outline planning permission was granted. The housing on this scheme would be detached, semi-detached, terraced and apartments with some falling in the affordable homes bracket.

It’s clearly an exciting time for Story Homes in the North East.
