A13 Thurrock Council Infrastructure Investment Funding Pledge

Thurrock Council have promised to ensure that crucial infrastructure is in place to help support and maximise major regeneration projects set to happen across the region. Thurrock Council, who’ll be speaking at the Thames Estuary Development Conference in April, are working in partnerships with a variety of firms across six massive growth areas – which will boost the regional economy, create thousands of jobs, along with the need for thousands of new homes.

The confirmation comes as Cllr Mark Coxshall, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, published an annual report – highlighting the sheer focus of the Council on infrastructure improvements. Coxshall said: “Thrrock is one of the largest growth areas in the UK and we have a hugely ambitious regeneration agenda, with billion pounds of planned investment in new jobs, homes and infrastructure over the coming years. We’re currently managing three major planning applications which along will create about 5,000 new homes and 5,000 new jobs. That represents a massive opportunity and we are working hard to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to support that growth and to make sure that any emerging proposals are of maximum benefit to the borough.”

Some of those major developments and regeneration projects are set to be the focus of the Thames Estuary Development Conference – including Purfleet, Tilbury, London Gateway and Thames Enterprise Park, all of whom will be represented, exhibiting or speaking at the event.

An example of the council’s determination to deliver the required infrastructure is in place is the A13 – where work is underway to widen the road between the Orsett Cock roundabout and Stanford-le-Hope. It’s been announced that funding has also been secured for a £45m+ scheme to create east-facing slip roads on the A13 near Lakeside, whilst over £70m is being invested into education – with the view of creating 3,500 new schools placements in the coming years.

Come and hear about how you can get involved in the major development and regeneration projects happening across the region.
