On the 20th March, prominent business leaders within the construction and property industry will come together in Bristol for the South West Universities Development Plans Event – one of the sectors largest business events of the year.

The event, hosted by Built Environment Networking, will hear from leading figures from the regions higher education institutions on their future estate plans, vision for their University and their input and importance to the regional and national economy. Speakers include:

  • Plymouth Marjon University
  • University of Plymouth
  • University Centre Weston
  • Wiltshire College
  • City College of Bristol

The conference will provide an opportunity for those within the industry to gain insight on projects likely to take place within the region, whilst also giving a platform to debate and discuss the issues at the top of the economic and regional agenda.

John Bailey, Director of Estates at Plymouth Marjon University, said: “Plymouth Marjon University is bucking the trend of the higher education sector and continuing to grow in student numbers, and is anticipating to grow by another 50% in the next five years. In order to meet the demands associated with this growth the University is undertaking a campus master plan, aiming to create a low-carbon, highly useful, highly utilised and aesthetically pleasing estate (mainly) within the envelope of its existing buildings campus.”

Chris Jones, Director of Engineering Consultancy firm Ramboll, said: “Creating sustainable and thriving educational hubs that serve both students and the local community bring many economic benefits. Working across the UK on leading institutional centres, we’re excited to hear about the South West university development plans and explore how we can bring knowledge and expertise to realise the region’s potential.”
