Wates have won the race to build the £58m flagship campus for Nottingham College as part of wider plans to completely overhaul the southern area of the City. The site, located next to the city’s Broadmarsh shopping centre and close to the train station, is set to be transformed into the six-storey City Hub.

We’ll be hearing from the college next week at the Nottingham Development Plans Conference which Wates will be attending. Nottingham City Council will also be speaking to present the wider plans for the area, alongside Igloo and Blueprint Developments and the University of Derby.

Plans for the hub will include student facilities for around 2,000 people, a café, a training restaurant, performance theatre and a business hub – with work expected to begin on site this summer for completion in 2020.

The scheme was procured via the Major Works framework – part of the Scape National Construction Framework. They’ll be joining us at the Construction Frameworks Conference at the end of this month, helping businesses understand how to put together a world-class framework bid and much more.

The derelict brownfield land is set to feature a public realm complete with green space for students and the public to enhance the student morale on site and create a vibrant and popular location.

The wider development of the area is part of a £250m investment programme which will include the redevelopment of Nottingham’s Broadmarsh Centre, the demolition and rebuilding of Broadmarsh car park and bus station, and the remodelling of roads and pedestrian areas to boost accessibility and traffic flow.
