Property developer Weston Homes is bringing an incredible development to Peterborough – which is set to bring the South Bank to life. The waterside residential and commercial project will see them transform the Fletton Quays area with its very own ‘Urban Beach’.

Weston Homes are set to speak about the exciting project at the Peterborough Development Plans Conference on the 8th March alongside local authorities and other developers.

The Fletton Quays site will give a huge boost to housing numbers in the region, with four new residential buildings being produced. The tallest will span seven floors and the buildings will house a total of 358 apartments ranging from one to three bedrooms. The buildings will provide London-like architecture with its striking glass and panelled facades to the river frontage, and a brick and balconied elevations behind. The building fronts onto a wide tree-lined waterfront boulevard with open green areas and an ‘urban beach’ providing epic views across the river and the city to truly revitalised the area from disused and derelict land to a vibrant must-see area.

The £70m development plans by Weston Homes is part of a wider scheme to redevelop the South Bank with a variety of mixed-use builds, including office employment space and bars. Weston Homes have been working alongside the Peterborough Investment Partnership on the scheme to make sure it integrates well into the site next door, which will see a 9-storey 160 bedroom hotel with a rooftop bar created – which is set to be the home of Hilton.

Bob Weston, Chief Executive and Chairman of Weston Homes said of the scheme: ”Fletton Quay will provide a new community for Peterborough’s expanding population, providing high class city centre apartments in a striking architectural style more often associated with Canary Wharf. The redevelopment of the South Bank is also sure to cement Peterborough’s status as one of the UK’s fastest growing cities. With all it has to offer, there is no doubt that Fletton Quays will become the jewel in the crown of Peterborough.”

The location of the site is situated to benefit from the great transport and infrastructure links, which was a key talking point at our Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Economic Growth Conference last year. With easy access to the M11 corridor to London, Essex and Cambridgeshire as well as being a short drive to the local Peterborough Train Station it’s in a prime location.

The ‘Urban Beach’ follows on from other successful schemes in cities including Vienna, Berlin, London, Toronto, Cardiff and Nottingham. Also set to be added to the area is a whisky and gin distillery, an arts centre and a leisure facility.
