Weston Homes are planning to build 400 new homes in Weston-Super-Mare. The development, which is now being opened for public consultation to gain feedback from the local community on the development, will be a major boost for housing in the region which is set to be a key topic at the West of England Economic Growth Conference later this year.

The proposed developed will be located in a prime location close to Weston-Super-Mare’s town centre at Sunnyside Road and Locking Road car parks, according to North Somerset Council. The new builds, which will be a mix of apartments and houses, will ‘improve the gateway to the town’.

A spokesperson for North Somerset Council said of the scheme: ”Alongside other major town centre projects, which have included the redevelopment of Dolphin Square, creative hub The Stable and the Italian Gardens, the transformation of Sunnyside Road and Locking Road will add further momentum to the regeneration of the town as a vibrant place to live, with a thriving and diverse leisure offer. The developments are part of the Weston Town Centre Regeneration Programme that is delivering improvements to key development sites and positively encouraging investment within the town.”

The Weston Town Centre Regeneration Programme mentioned by the Council highlights the need for ‘good quality new housing in the town centre’ and this is seen as a key scheme in enabling the success of that. It will attract people to live in the town and drive economic growth in the local area through increasing the demand of amenities and creating jobs.

Weston Homes are also set to join us at the Cambridge Development Plans Conference to talk about their developments in the region as they help tackle the housing shortage we have across the UK.
