Frameworks play an incredibly important role within the construction industry – which is why we’re bringing together those at the forefront of the sector at the Construction Frameworks Conference on the 13th December with a focus on sharing best practice, helping to reduce capital costs, help clients achieve best value from procurement and enable the sector to meet and collaborate – connecting those who’re potential partners for the future.

Wildgoose Construction are one of those heavily involved within frameworks – and they’ve recently had great success with several high value project wins. Ahead of the event we hear from them about their recently formed Wildgoose Homes, best practice within the frameworks sector and more…

Tell us a little bit about Wildgoose Construction?

Centrally located in Derbyshire, Wildgoose Construction, recognised as a market leader in the field of main contracting with a reputation for quality and reliability, was founded in Matlock in 1896 by the great grandfather of the chair.

Our work is undertaken across many sectors of the industry encompassing a variety of work types; from new builds and extensions to refurbishments in environments as diverse as security-restricted sites, live production facilities, occupied buildings in city centre locations, campus environments, schools and residential developments.

We are immensely proud of our journey so far and look forward with excitement to the challenges that the new era of Wildgoose Construction brings, including the formation of Wildgoose Homes

As a Derbyshire based firm are you primarily focused on schemes across the East Midlands – or are you working further afield?

Wildgoose primarily began to trade within the region of East Midlands. However, meeting the requirement of our clients has seen our region expand and today includes all the various regions of the Midlands, Yorkshire, North West and recently securing contracts as far south as Watford.

You’re working across a variety of frameworks and have recently expanded your team after successfully landing contracts worth almost £40m – why are Wildgoose so successful in both getting onto and then winning on frameworks?

Our success is due to having gained a formidable reputation in the industry based on our wide experience in a broad spectrum of sectors and being able to demonstrate with tangible evidence this exceptional level of service.

We also provide continual best value to our client organisations by ensuring that products, services and contractor-designed solutions consider not just initial cost, but also whole life value including future design life and any ongoing maintenance requirements.

The commitment of dedicated resource from our organisation using their industry experience to identify and eliminate unwanted costs, while improving function and quality, without compromising the client’s requirements or the specification for the project, underpins why we have successfully won £40m of contracts recently.

What projects are you currently working on across the UK?

The range of projects we are working on include affordable homes for registered providers, care and extra care facilities, medical centres and primary care estates, schools and fire stations, plus industrial units, office accommodation and new public houses and lodges for Marston’s PLC.

You’ve recently entered a new era with the formation of Wildgoose Homes. How did this come about and what is the future for this arm of Wildgoose?

Jonathan Wildgoose, having built homes four generations, realised that this vast experience would benefit enormously private buyers looking for a local home where the core elements of quality would be standard.

Our dedication to building outstanding homes is the foundation to our success and renowned reputation.

Having recently completed our biggest development of 32 homes at Wistanes Green, Wessington, with nine properties purchased by South Yorkshire Housing Association to provide affordable homes for local residents in this beautiful rural location, the team at Wildgoose Homes is busy preparing for the next development of 22 family homes in Marston Montgomery within Derbyshire Dales.

Further planning applications are also underway, again for stunning family homes that are stylish, robust, and economic to run and practical to live in within Derbyshire.

The Construction Frameworks Conference is set to bring together those working across the sector – why is it an important date in the diary?

With the vast number and variety of frameworks; current or imminent; providing all aspects of construction products and services, we believe The Construction Frameworks Conference is an important date in the diary to provide clarity with regard to which framework works best for whom, based on best practice.

We are looking forward to interacting with industry leaders, gaining an awareness of which frameworks are due for renewal and understanding what client organisations are hoping to achieve from future procurement initiatives.

Wildgoose Construction are exhibiting at the Construction Frameworks Conference – set to be held in Sheffield on the 13th December.
