  • Cheshire West & Chester Council – with over £2bn of regeneration taking shape across Cheshire West and Chester in the coming decade, it’s an exciting time for the borough. A plethora of effort is going into making the region a zero climate, sustainable hub with a string of major energy related projects including the £600m waste to fuel plant, a raft of high street and town centre investment projects and the development of world class living spaces and communities. Gemma joins the event to outline their world class economic growth strategy and discuss how the area will evolve in the coming years.
  • Progressive Energy – develop projects which reduce carbon emissions across industry, homes and transport – the hard-to-reach sectors.  The team are particularly focused on hydrogen and capturing and storing carbon (CCS).  They are the lead developer of HyNet North West – a clean energy project which is centred Cheshire West and Chester.  Rachel will talk about projects which are needed to realise net zero Cheshire
  • Peel NRE – part of Peel L&P – and Waste2Tricity have received planning consent from Cheshire West & Chester Council for a £7m waste plastic to hydrogen facility at the 54-hectare Protos site near Ellesmere Port. The development will see 14 full time permanent jobs created at Protos with over 100 jobs created in the North West during fabrication and construction. It will transform how plastic waste is dealt with in the region, treating up to 35 tonnes of unrecyclable plastics a day and using it to create a local source of hydrogen. This hydrogen could be used as a clean fuel for buses, Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and cars, helping to reduce air pollution and improve air quality on local roads. The facility would also generate electricity which could be provided to commercial users via a microgrid at Protos, helping to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Peel Environmental is looking at developing a closed loop solution at Protos where plastics are recycled on-site with the leftover material used to create hydrogen.
  • Essar Oil – Essar Oil are in the process of developing two £750m blue hydrogen hubs in Stanlow and are integral to the council’s sustainable place vision. As part of this session, he will talk about the project in depth and also Essar’s commitment to net zero in the North West.
