Local Plans across the county allocate 17,200 new homes to be built in North Devon and Torridge, 26,700 new homes across the South Hams, West Devon and Plymouth, while 11,000 new homes are planned in the Liveable Exeter vision, and a further 7,860 in Mid Devon, plus more in East Devon and Teignbrige. Grainger PLC – As the UK’s largest residential landlord Grainger and one of the biggest names in Build to Rent and have a long term pipeline of 9,000 BtR homes worth £2 billion countrywide. Greg will join the session to discuss Grainger PLC’s strategy for the South West and their search for locations to develop over the coming years, with Devon and particularly Exeter being a main focus. Plymouth City Council – Plymouth was declared a £1 billion city in 2019 with a vast array of multi million pound projects in the pipeline. The latest projects to be brought forward include £385million worth of investment planned in the city centre, predicted to support 5,000 construction jobs and result in 1,000 permanent new jobs. Plymouth was also named as one of the country’s eight new tax-break freeports and stands to benefit from a £100million investment and jobs boom. Around 10,000 new jobs will be created as well as support some the UK’s key sectors such as transport, infrastructure, clean energy and, in particular manufacturing as Plymouth has the highest concentration of manufacturing businesses in any city south of Birmingham. Matt will give more intel on these schemes and economic growth plans including the regeneration of Plymouth’s towering former Civic Centre and nearby Guildhall.
