Dundrum Ireland Dublin Hammerson

Major developer Hammerson has received approval for a new build to rent (BTR) scheme in the south of Dublin.

Situated in Dundrum town centre the plans mark the firm’s first move into residential development in the Republic of Ireland, having made a reputation of being one of the UK and Ireland’s biggest retail players.

The BTR scheme will be managed on a long term rental basis and details of the project include:

  • 107 x BTR apartments
  • 50 x one-bedroom apartments [emaillocker id=”71749″]
  • 56 x two-bedroom apartments
  • Projected delivery cost of €30m
  • Estimated gross capital value of €64m on completion
  • Co-working space
  • Gym
  • Cinema room
  • Lounge and terrace area on the upper levels
  • Courtyards with seating

This newly approved development forms part of a much larger (but unrelated) scheme being planned by Hammerson in Dundrum – one which will feature during their involvement at our Ireland Development Conference in 2020.

That project is in the masterplanning stage for a residential-led scheme north of the shopping centre.

Construction work for the development is expected to start next year. Hammerson is leading the development on behalf of its 50:50 joint venture with Allianz which owns and operates the Dundrum Town Centre.

Simon Betty, Hammerson Ireland Director, said: “Our City Quarters concept will see Hammerson transform our city venues beyond pure retail into successful neighbourhoods providing homes, workspaces, hotels and accessible public realm.

We welcome An Bord Pleanála’s positive decision on Dundrum. Our first City Quarters scheme in Ireland will create vibrant and sustainable residences adjacent to our flagship destination with easy access to a range of public transport services and large employment hubs.  A high-quality design, based on best-practice in architectural sustainability, will set the benchmark for future developments in Dublin Central, Dundrum and Swords.”
