Bradford Metropolitan Borough Council have launched a new strategic plan which aims to drive growth within the regional economy. The Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) Growth Strategy sets out the growth plans for the city and surrounding regions, including a focus on economic, social and inclusive growth.

Bradford Council, who’ll be represented at the West Yorkshire Development Plans Conference by Leader Susan Hinchcliffe, revealed the plans exclusively at MIPIM in Cannes – where the impressive property and real estate conference is currently taking place. The plans will focus on using connectivity and infrastructure between Northern cities and towns to help transform the region – driving inward investment, development and regeneration within the city.

Susan Hinchcliffe said: “This strategy is the next phase in our efforts to ensure Bradford is connected to a high-speed rail and it defines the economic opportunity for investors, developers and businesses as well as the opportunities it will bring to people living and working in the district.”

Roger Marsh, Chair of the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and Chair of NP11, added: “It will act as the catalyst for inclusive growth that means better jobs, more opportunity and an even better quality of life for the next generation. The LEP and West Yorkshire Combined Authority are backing Bradford’s vision set out in this NPR Growth Strategy and we will be working with investors, developers and wider business partners to ensure this is an opportunity we grasp with both hands.”

We look forward to hearing more about the future plans and strategies from each regional public sector authority at the West Yorkshire Development Conference.
