Airbus – Solange Baena, UK Lead & National Representative Airbus Aviation Environmental Roadmap

Airbus is a leader in designing, manufacturing and delivering aerospace. Recently announcing ambitions for the world’s first zero-emission commercial aircraft by 2035; establishing a £685 million government fund Zero Emission Development Centre (ZEDC). Solange – UK Lead & National Representative at Airbus and Council Cleaner Group Chair at sustainable aviation will be joining the session to discuss sustainable travel infrastructure, carbon neutrality, and the future of air travel.

Manchester Airport – Chris Woodroofe, Managing Director

Chris was appointed Managing Director of Manchester Airport in June 2022. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer of London Gatwick Airport where he led numerous successful people, process and system change programmes. Prior to that, he held senior positions at the airport including Head of Engineering and Head of Security. Chris is a chartered chemical engineer who left Imperial College London with a first class masters degree to join Nestle UK’s graduate scheme. He also holds an MBA with distinction from the University of Warwick.

Department for Transport – Holly Greig, Deputy Director, Aviation Decarbonisation Division

Holly will join the conference to explore the DFT’s future plans and the role the airport and aviation sectors will play in creating a net zero Britain as well as creating inclusive economic growth. Holly will also discuss the role the DFT played at COP26 where they kickstarted a year of ambition and collaboration – negotiating with like-minded states that are serious about decarbonising the aviation sector and forming an initiative to convince and bring in more states to commit to decarbonising their aviation sectors.

Teesside International Airport – Phil Forster, Managing Director

Teesside International Airport have big plans to boost the local economy with their development plans. They plan to invest £200 million in an airport business park, expected to create up to 4,400 jobs over 1.9million sq. ft area. Recently announcing £25 million investment in Teesside International Airport that has the potential to bring 250 to 300 jobs to the region. Phil – managing director at Teesside will be joining the panel to discuss major development plans and building world class airports.

Jet Zero Council – Rachel Gardner-Poole, Chair of Zero Emission Flight Delivery Group

Jet Zero Council (JZC) aim to deliver zero-emission transatlantic flight – with new technologies and the adoption of innovation critical to reducing aviation emissions. Rachel will be joining the session to share thought leadership on Zero Emission Flight (ZEF) and the opportunities and challenges of delivering the surrounding infrastructure.

Connected Places Catapult – Andrew Chadwick, Technology Innovation Lead – Aviation

Connected Place Catapult is a government innovation agency for cities, transport and place leadership. Focusing on the current issues of aviation and airport infrastructure – including the drive to ‘JetZero’ and development of new modes of aviation. Andrew will be joining the session to discuss Zero emission infrastructure, current developments, economic growth and the future of aviation.

Gloucestershire Airport – Karen Taylor, Managing Director

Gloucestershire Airport is UK’s busiest general aviation airport and is investing £8 million to upgrade the runways at Gloucestershire Airport, as a part of a £15 million in the Staverton site development. Karen – Managing director at Gloucestershire Airport and Non-Executive Director at Blackpool Airport will be joining the session to discuss new development, infrastructural regeneration, and economic growth in the region.

Birmingham International Airport – Nikki Bains, Head of Planning, Transport and Strategy

Birmingham Airport announced plans for £500m worth of development to increase passenger numbers from 13 million per year to 18 million by 2033. The expansion will see the departure lounge in the north terminal extended by 40% and is set to add a mezzanine, more check-in facilities, and additional seating and retail space. Nikki will reveal more intel on this expansion as well as discussing the airport’s strategy for recovery and the role the airport plays in Birmingham and the UK’s economy.

ZeroAvia – Dominic Weeks, Head of External Affairs & Marketing

ZeroAvia the hydrogen-electric, zero-emission aviation company – has announced invests up to £175 million in aims to power a 40-80-seat aircraft with zero-emission engines by 2026. With strategic investors in the shape of IAG, United Airlines and Alaska Airlines – ZeroAvia aims to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Dominic will be joining the session to discuss the drive to carbon neutrality in aviation, innovation in air travel and development of hydrogen infrastructure.

Costain – Furah Naeem, Principal Consultant at Costain and Chair of BAG Next Gen Group

Furah is committed to creating connected, sustainable infrastructure which enables people and the planet to thrive. Furah’s background is in engineering consultancy, and during her time at Costain, she has provided strategic advice on programmes for a range of clients including Department for Transport, National Highways, Ministry of Defence and the Cabinet Office. Most recently, Furah has acted as advisor to the Connected Places Catapult’s Zero Emissions Flight Programme (ZEFI), providing technical knowledge and expertise to outline the key implementation requirements for airport related infrastructure when transitioning to hydrogen. Furah is Chair of the British Aviation Group (BAG) Next Generation group and a board member for Hydrogen South West.

Skyports – James Bircumshaw, Head of Infrastructure Acquisitions & Partnerships

Skyports are trailblazers in vertiport design, building and operation. Currently working on the Future Flight Challenge, which has been funded £9.5 million, accelerating Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in the UK. James will be joining the session to discuss air mobility, development of vertiport technology that provides a better flying experience and the roadmap to air taxis by 2030.

Portland Design – Liz McShane, Business Development, Associate

Addleshaw Goddard – Sophie Black, Legal Director

Addleshaw Goddard provide imaginative solutions to pivotal business problems – Sophie will be joining the session to provide a legal perspective on airport experience.

Weston Williamson + Partners – Max Breese, Associate Director

Max is an Associate at WW+P working extensively within the transportation and infrastructure sector, with a specific interest in transport hubs and how they can enhance and contribute to the local environment. As an architect he has worked at a variety of scales and stages and across the whole design cycle.

Built Environment Networking – Amanda Griffiths, Director

Amanda is one of the Co-Founder’s of Built Environment Networking – formed almost 10 years ago.

She’ll be hosting throughout the day, running the days proceedings and managing the interaction between our delegates and the speakers.

Crawford – Managing Director of AECOM Aviation is responsible for leading the aviation strategy and business development activities in the Europe and India regions. He will be joining the session to share thought leadership on the future of aviation

Taking place the night before the Airports Development & Future of Aviation Conference, we will be hosting an experience like no other, bringing together the event speakers, selected guests and the exclusive dinner sponsor.
