Ian Oldacre joined the team in December 2006 as a Project Manager and has been responsible for the delivery of the majority of the Main Building improvements at Aston over the last 5 years. Projects include the new Café Tierra Restaurant, Main Entrance, Student Services/Hub, Conference Aston Bedroom refurbishments as well as many laboratory, teaching spaces and office improvements. In February 2011 Ian was appointed as Head of Estates (Projects) and is now responsible for capital projects, space utilisation, and environmental performance, in accordance with the Estates Strategy. Ian has over 20 years of experience in both Building Management and Project Management within the NHS and Higher Education sectors.


Graham Rhodes, Director of Estates; Birmingham City UniversityGraham Rhodes Resized

Graham Rhodes is the Director of Estates for Birmingham City University with responsibility for the development and maintenance of the University estate, real estate management, energy management and the University’s environmental and sustainability agenda.

Graham is leading a project team that is delivering the University’s “two campus” estates strategy through a £260m capital programme, the major developments being the City Centre Campus, Eastside following the phased migration from the City North Campus Perry Barr and the City South Campus Edgbaston.

Graham is a Chartered Surveyor with over 20 years’ experience in Higher Education, prior to which he was with the NHS and Local Authority

Graham has played an active role in AUDE (Association of University Directors of Estates) having previously been Secretary, Chair of the West Midlands Region and served as AUDE representative on a number of sector wide initiative.

Away from work, as a former player, Graham is a keen rugby fan, enjoys travel and golf and sings in a local choir.
