Birmingham and West Midlands Real Estate & Infrastructure Update

Built Environment Networking’s hugely popular evening networking events return to Birmingham in association with the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum, bringing together regional public sector leadership with a multitude of developers, investors, and project delivery bodies who will unveil a range of new projects totalling hundreds of millions of pounds and give exclusive intelligence surrounding future regeneration ambition across the West Midlands.

  • Cordia Blackswan – having been acquired by international property group Cordia in 2020, Blackswan are set to unleash a £550m development pipeline in the West Midlands. Initial projects include the Lampworks, Gilders Yard, Hockley Mills and Great Hampton Street with many more due to follow. Marcus joins the conference to share their vision for the region and deliver an insight into their approach to development.
  • West Midlands Combined Authority – With nine key regeneration projects allied to their strategic economic plan, West Midlands Combined Authority are leading the way in catalysing development in their region. Ranging from the 141 hectare, £1bn Curzon Masterplan to the £390m Coventry city centre plans to the £227m Birmingham Metro extension, the opportunities are plentiful. Gareth joins this event to talk in depth about future plans and how they fit into the wider UK growth objectives.
  • Innovation Alliance for the West Midlands – Dr Pam Waddell OBE leads and coordinates a new Innovation Alliance for the West Midlands, a regional partnership working to stimulate science and technology based innovation to improve prosperity and quality of life across the West Midlands. The principle objectives are to build a vibrant innovation ecosystem for the West Midlands and to catalyse collaborative activity focussed in demand-led innovation. The alliance builds on the legacy of Birmingham Science City, which Pam directed from 2009-2017. Pam is a recognised authority, locally and beyond, in the role of innovation as a driver for economic growth and improved public services, with extensive experience in leading, building and supporting strong innovation networks across diverse sectors and types of institutions.
  • Birmingham city Council – Birmingham City Council are delivering and enabling billions of pounds worth of development throughout the city with the need for 51,000 new homes needing to be delivered by 2031. Projects include the exciting Perry Barr 2040 masterplan, a £700 million scheme which will see the development of 5,000 new homes, a new station and rapid transit service and major improvements to the Alexander Stadium.

The VIP Dinner will run between 19:30-22:00 with private dining at a top restaurant (Michelin starred if available). After the event we will be hosting a VIP Speakers’ Dinner – with the speakers invited to join us and a small number of others to take the conversation into a more relaxed environment.

This is a unique opportunity to spend quality time after the event with the speakers – taking discussions about projects and schemes, procurement opportunities and networking with decision makers into a more one-to-one conversation. The evening meal includes a formal discussion around key regional topics in the industry – accompanied by good food, drinks and excellent company.
