Previously, as Head of High Speed Rail Development, he led Network Rail’s involvement in the development of Britain’s high speed rail strategy to inform and support the Government’s proposals for a new line, planning for High Speed Two becoming part of the national railway network. Rupert joined the railways in December 2000 and has led the development of several landmark projects including Thameslink, Reading, Crossrail and ERTMS. His ambition is to ride a high speed train on the new line from London to Manchester before his retirement! Michael Lightbound; Partner, Argent Mike joined Argent in 2007 and works primarily on the King’s Cross redevelopment. He manages the overall business plan for King’s Cross and is responsible for many of the financial aspects of the development, including cash flow, allocation of funds across projects and the raising of third party funding. Mike also leads the Asset Management team – the group responsible for managing the growing retained estate at King’s Cross. Before joining Argent, Mike worked at Swiss Re where he was a member of the management team within the Global Operational Risk Group and, prior to this, he spent seven years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the UK and the Caribbean. He is a Chartered Accountant and has a degree in Structural Engineering. Andrew Grainger; Director of Estates, University College London Leading the management and development of UCL’s fine and complex central London estate of 200 buildings including many specialist research facilities, teaching accommodation and student residential. Following a comprehensive strategic review a new estate strategy has been adopted including the Bloomsbury Estate Masterplan and emerging proposals for a new additional campus at Stratford London E15. A major capital investment programme is underway with well over £1 billion of projects planned over the next 10 years.
