As well as about 300 new homes being built on the Pydar site there are plans for student accommodation. The plans also include new shops, bars and restaurants, leisure facilities and a hotel totalling 17,000sq m of employment space. Phil will reveal more intel on this scheme as well as updating on the progress of the Langarth Garden Village which is approaching approval for the creation of 3500 different types of new homes, 200 specialised later life living developments, 50 residential units for key workers as well as a raft of community and leisure facilities which includes the “Stadium for Cornwall”. Blue Abyss – Plans have been submitted to build the world’s deepest artificial pool in Cornwall to train astronauts and help advance undersea robotics as well as an onsite hotel. The £150m scheme is proposed for a 10-acre site at the Aerohub Enterprise Zone at Cornwall airport in Newquay and has been endorsed by British astronaut Major Tim Peake. The pool, which would have the capacity to fill 17 Olympic-size swimming pools, would be covered by a sliding roof and 30-tonne crane, allowing large objects to be lowered into the pool. Blue Abyss estimates that the underwater technology test centre will create 160 jobs and generate £8m annually for the local economy and as Chief Executive John will be well placed to discuss the story behind this considerable project for Cornwall. Vistry Partnerships – Vistry Partnership South West are involved with the delivery of around 410 homes in the region working with Cornwall Council, Coastline Housing and Treveth Holdings. The latest scheme will see a new 154 home estate created on a 14-acre sports field at Long Rock, which borders the A30 on one side and is about a mile from both Penzance and Marazion.
