Edinburgh City Council – Councillor Neil Gardiner, Convenor, Planning Committee

With so many innovative regeneration projects being spearheaded by the city council, it is an exciting time to be investing and developing in Edinburgh. In particular, the team are supporting net zero development and those which use modern methods of construction and their flagship scheme is the £1.3bn Edinburgh waterfront which Neil will talk about as part of this event. The council are also coordinating a collaborative masterplan to drive forward the development of 7,000 homes on a 205 acres site to the west of the city.

Crosswind Developments – Caroline Cuthbertson, Director

Behind the development of Elements Edinburgh – a strategically important site adjacent to Edinburgh Airport, Caroline and her team are bringing forward Scotland’s first digital quarter, a 30ha brownfield site, 6,000 jobs, 1m sq ft of commercial space and a new public park. Caroline joins the event to update guests and also talk about wider economic benefits for Scotland.

Parabola – Peter Millican, Chairman

Parabola are behind one of Scotland’s most significant and exciting placemaking projects. The Edinburgh Park urban quarter will see the transformation of a 43 acre site into a fully net-zero mixed use site including 1,740 homes which will be a mixture of private residential, build to rent and affordable, 460,000 sq ft of commercial space, a 170 bed hotel and significant public realm. This stage of the project has a value of £209 million and a start date of the end of 2022 is planned. Peter will discuss progress on the scheme so far, their plans for the main phase of the project and Parabola’s vision to create a truly sustainable mixed use community.

IMPACT Scotland – Jenny Mungall, Development Director

IMPACT Scotland is the charity behind the Dunard Centre project – Edinburgh’s first dedicated new space for music in 100 years. The £75 million scheme is being funded by Dunard Fund and Edinburgh and Southeast Scotland City Region Deal and is supported by Royal Bank of Scotland. It will house a 1,000-capacity auditorium with capacity for live streaming, digital capture and broadcasting and further space for conferencing and hospitality.
