Heart of the South West LEP – Covering Devon, Somerset, Plymouth and Torbay, the Heart of the South West’s £35 billion economy and 1.8 million population is equivalent to that of a major city. The LEP will oversee £50 million worth of “shovel ready” projects as a part of the Government’s £900 million Getting Building Fund to help boost the South West’s pandemic recovery. There are 19 major projects in total that will be delivered across the South West and David will join the session to give more intel on the their Somerset specific schemes. LiveWest – LiveWest are one of the biggest social housing investors in the South West who own and manage over 38,000 homes from Cornwall to Gloucestershire. They have ambitious plans to invest more than £1bn in the South West economy and to build 6,000 new homes in the region over the next five years. Caroline will join the session to talk about their significant investment and development pipeline in Somerset. Sedgemoor District Council – Dawn will discuss Sedgemoor District Council’s proactive approach with engaging with future developers to promote and encourage appropriate development; working jointly with their Economic Development and Policy teams. Sedgemoor are planning to regenerate Highbridge with £20 million from the Government’s Community Recovery Fund and Dawn will reveal more details on the council’s future regeneration and housing development plans with £30 million worth of work over 14 projects currently active. Keepmoat Homes – Keepmoat Homes have major housebuilding plans for Somerset with 5 projects coming to the fore over the past year. Plans for over 1,000 homes totalling £117 million worth of investment in the region have been lodged and John will be on hand to discuss these schemes as well as revealing Keepmoat’s future plans for the region.
