The Future of Stadia and Venues Conference

The UK is home to a multitude of world class sporting and live entertainment venues that play host to leading sports teams and acts. Across the UK, stadiums and arena development is playing a major part in local authority placemaking strategy.

This event brings together developers, operators and investors behind some of the most exciting schemes across the country to talk about the how stadiums and arenas will evolve in a post pandemic world while also accounting for new approaches to design and delivery across multi-billion pounds worth of projects.

We’re set to have an exceptional line-up of speakers who’ll be sharing intel into their future development projects, plans and vision for across the stadia and venue sector. They include:

KSS – Debbie Power, Associate Director

KSS are an award-winning architecture and design practice. They are one of the leading sports stadia and training centre architects with a strong presence in residential, education, commercial, hospitality and workplace. Debbie’s previous work includes the Anfield Main Stand, Twickenham Stadium, Wembley Stadium and Wimbledon.

St. James Securities – Paul Morris, Director

St James Securities are working in consultation with Derby City Council to bring forward the major Becketwell regeneration scheme in the city centre. The new development will feature 310 BTR apartments and a range of office spaces, a hotel, a multi storey car park and retail space as a part of the £200 million project. The scheme will also see the delivery of a new 3,500 capacity performance venue that is set to be managed and operated by ASM Global who manage venues across all five continents.

AFL Architects – Rita Ochoa, Senior Associate Architect

AFL Architects operate as architects, masterplanners, urban and interior designers that specialise in three sectors. Sport’s and leisure, healthcare and education, and residential and commercial are core to the practice. Rita’s most recent projects include Brentford’s £71m community stadium, Swansea Central, Hull Arena, Camp Nou, Lusail Stadium and Ashgabat Olympic Stadium.

NEC Group – Daniel Boulger, Head of Venue Partnerships

NEC Group is one of the world’s top venue management companies, operating a number of world-class venues including the NEC, the ICC, Utilita Arena Birmingham and the Vox Conference Venue. The group currently delivers more than 750 events annually across its five Birmingham-based venues. Though it is looking to expand its influence into West Yorkshire with a £2m investment into the Bradford Live project, that would see the derelict former Odeon theatre, converted into a new live music venue. NEC will operate and manage the venue once the conversion is completed.
