Bailie Liz Cameron; Executive Member for Economic DLC - Passport photoevelopment, Glasgow City Council

Educated at GlasgowUniversity where she obtained an Honours degree in English Language and Literature, Liz Cameron taught in Further and Higher education for most of her earlier career, before being elected to Glasgow District Council in 1992. She served as Vice Chair of the Council’s Womens Committee and of the Arts and Culture Committee before being appointed Convener of Cultural and Leisure Services, presiding over the restructuring of cultural, sports and lifelong learning departments and conducting major reviews of the Council’s delivery of library, museums, sports and community education services.

During this time she played a major role in securing lottery funding for the hugely successful KelvingroveArtGallery refurbishment programme and for the City Halls renovation, a project close to her heart as an ardent music lover. During this time she served on the Scottish Arts Council for six years and was a Trustee of the National Galleries of Scotland. After six years in Culture and Leisure Services she became Lord Provost of the City of Glasgow from 2003 — 2007.  During that time she helped to raise the City’s profile nationally and internationally, establishing strong partnerships with Marseille and other French cities and with Lahore in Pakistan.  She set up Glasgow’s aid partnership with Malawi and became Patron of Glasgow the Caring City’s work in Sri Lanka post tsunami.  During her term of office, Kelvingrove reopened and Glasgow’s bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games was launched.  Together with the then Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Lesley Hind, she formed a burgeoning partnership with the City of Edinburgh.

Latterly she served as the first Chair of Culture and Sport Glasgow and Vice Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.  She is Vice President of Les Rencontres European Network of Cultural Cities and of. “Tous Les Ports du Monde”, based in Rennes/ St Malo. She is a Doctor of the three universities in Glasgow and now Visiting Professor in Cultural Business at Glasgow Caledonian. In 2006 she became an Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres — one of the highest honours of the FrenchRepublic for her services to French language and culture.

Bailie Cameron assumed her current role as Executive Member of Development and Regeneration Services in June 2010.  Her remit in Development and Regeneration Services is extremely wide, encompassing Housing Regeneration, City Planning, Sustainability, Creative Industries and, crucially Economic Regeneration and Social Initiatives.She is currently serving as vice chair to the Principal of Strathclyde University on the Glasgow Joint Economic Commission.  She serves on many cultural and artistic Boards, including Chair of Glasgow Film Theatre and the Scottish International Piano Competition. She is Chair of the Scottish Baroque Ensemble and she is the first woman Patron of the Glasgow Celtic Society for the promotion of Gaelic language and culture.


Allan McQuade; Director of Business Infrastructure, Scottish Enterpriseallan_mcquade

As Director of Business Infrastructure Allan is responsible for all Scottish Enterprise activity in property and infrastructure in line of the five Business Plan strategic priorities – renewable energy, growth companies, innovation, international trade and investment and low carbon.  He has a multi-disciplinary team of 60 based across the Scottish Enterprise geographic area who are involved in a range of activity such as supporting and facilitating investment in infrastructure for off shore renewables manufacture and installation, life science and other sector projects, key initiatives such as Clyde Waterfront, Clyde Gateway and Dundee Waterfront and partnership initiatives in the urban and rural economy.  Allan currently sits on the Board of a number of joint ventures.

Allan has over 30 years property development and regeneration experience in urban and rural areas gained from working in the Public Sector in Glasgow, Ayrshire, Hong Kong, Argyll and Dunbartonshire.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.


Jamie Cumming; Commercial Director MEPCJamie Cumming

Jamie Cumming is an experienced Chartered Surveyor who holds a BSc (Hons) in Management Science and MSc in Urban Real Estate Development. Jamie joined MEPC as Commercial Director for Hillington Park and Clyde Gateway East in March 2013 with overall responsibility for running both estates, delivering key asset management activities and developing new commercial space.

MEPC manages some of the UK’s best known commercial property, with eight Business Estates set in prime locations throughout the UK. Together they provide over 7.5 million sq ft of high quality space for more than 1,000 organisations, employing over 22,000 people. With a portfolio in excess of £700 million, they stand as a leader in their field. Prior to joining MEPC, Jamie worked at private property company Airlink Group where he was responsible for the acquisition, disposal and management of property, parking and self-storage assets amounting to circa £27m in value. Jamie also worked at global property consultant CBRE where he was involved in several major acquisitions & disposals and gained exposure to the UK’s leading real estate developers & investors including Muse Developments, Tritax Assets, RBS, ING and CBRE Investors

Jamie’s passions outside work include family, sailing and fishing.


Ann Allen; Director of Estates University of Glasgow13 - 082 Ann Allen - Estates 001

Ann is the Director of Estates at the University of Glasgow, a member of the renowned  Russell Group of Universities.  In her current role the department she leads is responsible for estates strategy , projects, maintenance and infrastructure. The department also leads on carbon reduction. Ann has worked in property for over 30 years gaining an experience with a focus on asset management. She has worked primarily in the private sector both for property companies and in corporate roles. Prior to joining the University Ann headed up the asset management team at John Lewis.   Ann is also a Trustee of Ethical Property.
