Locate in Kent – Gavin Cleary, Chief Executive

Locate in Kent, acts as the county’s inward investment agency, with the aim to encourage and support businesses to set up and expand Kent. In 2021, they supported 46 businesses expanding or relocating in Kent, creating 3,233 new jobs, with 678 of these jobs created from overseas investment. Past clients include Pfizer, Hitachi and Amazon, stretching across various sectors. They recently worked with Brompton, the UK’s leading bicycle manufacturer, to build a new £100m global HQ and factory in Ashford, capable of producing 200,000 bikes a year.

Ashford Borough Council – Tracey Kerly, Chief Executive

Ashford Borough Council has a rich heritage but are also working on ambitious plans for the future. The council have outlined their large-scale developments within the aptly titled ‘Big 8’. The aim of the developments is to unlock major opportunities, whilst delivering new jobs, housing, retail and cultural facilities. Under the ‘Big 8’ several major schemes have been completed and will be taking place across the borough, most notably the Chilmington Green project. Launched in 2014, Chilmington Green is a 20-year project that will deliver upwards of 5,750 homes, a district centre and community infrastructure.

Kings Crescent Homes – Nick Harvey-Jones, Co-Founder

King Crescent Homes have recently received planning consent for 400 residential properties and associated commercial space in the town centre of Ashford. Working alongside funding partners Homes England and Lendinvest, the development, known as The Triangle, has a GDV of over £90m and will be delivered just a few minutes walk from Ashford’s International Train Station that has direct routes to Central London and Paris
