Paul Morris, Director of Facilities Management; University of Central LancashireLancashire's Development Plans 2017 - Paul Morris

Paul Morris started his career as an engineering apprentice at BNFL. In 1987 he moved to Oscar Faber Consulting Engineers and progressed to Project Engineer working on a wide range of building services projects both new and refurbishment in the public and private sector. After six years with Oscar Faber Paul joined Preston City Council, initially looking after Energy and Facilities Management, progressing to Assistant Director Infrastructure with responsibility for all Public Buildings and the Engineering Division managing the Highways and Traffic Team for the Borough.

In 2006 Paul secured the position of Director of Facilities Management at the University of Central Lancashire. The University has continued to expand with new Laboratory, Dental, Medical, Performing Arts, Teaching, Residential and Sports Facilities. Paul is now leading on the development of a new Preston Campus Masterplan setting out a 10 year vision for the continued investment in a quality, modern, energetic University.

Paul is passionate about Preston and the continued development of a stronger, prosperous and distinctive northwest city.


Mark Swindlehurst, Director of Facilities; Lancaster UniversityMark Swindlehurst REV

Mark Swindlehurst joined Lancaster University in 2003 to lead the Estates team through a significant campus redevelopment programme, which to date has seen over £500m being invested at the Bailrigg Campus. Following a Central Administration review in 2009, Mark was asked to lead the new Facilities Division, which also added the portfolios of Commercial Services, Accommodation and Sport to his existing Estates responsibilities. As Director, Mark is responsible for the leadership, strategic planning and effective integration of facilities service delivery across the University and his extended remit also includes connecting Campus, City and Community.

Prior to joining Lancaster University, Mark worked for the BBC in its corporate property department, developing new broadcasting centres throughout the UK.

Mark is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers. He is a past Chair of the Association of University Directors of Estates (AUDE), a HE sector association representing 155 HE institutions in the UK. Mark completed his MBA in 2001.
