Calderdale Council – Cllr Tim Swift, Leader There are 19 projects associated with Calderdale’s “Next Chapter” of regeneration which will see upwards of £300m spent on development in the coming years including the £200m hospital extension, a £60m woodland habitat in Hipperholme and the £30m Halifax town centre regeneration. Cllr Swift will detail different schemes including an update on the major infrastructure projects such as the A58/A672 and A646 upgrade and much more. Bradford City Council – Susan Hinchcliffe, Leader Bradford is leading the way on net zero regeneration and the council have recently granted planning permission for the UK’s first clean growth test bed on a 180-acre mixed use site in Esholt alongside Keyland Developments. Susan and her team are also making a powerful economic case for a new £500m station at the St James Market site in the city centre, she joins this event to talk about her vision for the future of the region and detail other key development schemes that the council are keen to see. Kirklees Council – Shabir Pandor, Leader Four major projects comprise the £250m Huddersfield Blueprint which comprises the creation of a Cultural Heart and Town Park near the University of Huddersfield, an enhances Station Gateway, improving the New Street Area of the Town Centre with investment into mixed use space, replacing the Bus Station and rethinking Cross Church Street. Shabir joins the event to give an update on this as well as the Dewsbury Blueprint which will see 3500 new homes delivered in the next decade. Leeds City Council – Cllr Helen Hayden, Executive Member for Infrastructure and Climate Leeds City Council have been working with the Environment Agency on a major scheme to reduce the risk of flooding in Leeds. The first phase of the £112m scheme was completed in 2012, better protecting more than 3,500 homes, 500 commercial city centre properties and critical access routes to Leeds train station. Phase two is set to cost around £87m to complete and will give protection to three key areas in the city region including Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills, Kirkstall Abbey and Kirkstall Meadows. Cllr Helen Hayden joins us to discuss what the scheme means for the local economy and the region’s at-risk communities. Latimer Developments – Michael Briffett, Project Director Latimer Developments have recently revealed plans to deliver a high-quality, mixed and sustainable community which sets a new benchmark for the provision of affordable homes in Leeds, with private outside space for residents alongside public open spaces, employment opportunities and car-free access into the city centre. In total the scheme will deliver approximately 1800 new homes of which 503 have been earmarked to be affordable as well as over 350 student homes. Michael will be on hand to discuss these significant plans for the Kirkstall area of Leeds. The Guinness Partnership – Angela Garrard, Director of Development – North Angela will update on the progress of Cross Point, part of the South Bank Regeneration led by Leeds City Council which will provide over 8,000 new homes. The 928 new homes at Points Cross, a minimum 35% of which will be affordable housing, will be constructed on two adjacent sites with the project set to include commercial and retail space for compatible uses such as cafes and gyms, enabling Guinness to play its part in the delivery of a vibrant new neighbourhood. Moda Living – Rob Gill, Head of Acquisitions Moda have launched a new home rental brand, Casa – a joint venture with Ares Real Estate, and are aiming to change the way people live in the UK, starting in Yorkshire. Casa will deliver an initial 5,000 new family homes for rent by 2025, which is set to have a combined value of £1bn. Some 200 Casa homes are already planned in the Yorkshire region, with the first set to start on site in Dean Beck, Bradford, by next April with the first residents to move in before the end of 2022. Rob will be on hand to discuss these exciting plans and ambitions for the Casa by Moda brand. CEG – Karen Stafeckis, Development Manager CEG are the masterminds behind some of the biggest schemes in West Yorkshire with the 57 acre, £400m masterplan for Kirkstall Forge in Leeds, the £350 million Globe Point project in the Temple district of Leeds, and the 500 home development in Burley-in-Wharfdale being chief amongst them. As major regenerators in other northern towns and cities, Karen will be talking in depth about the next phases of these schemes and the catalyst they will act as for further major investment into Leeds and West Yorkshire. Muse Places – Simon Dew, Development Director Muse Developments recently received the green light for One City Park, a 56,403 sq ft office building in Bradford city centre. The scheme will transform the former police HQ site, creating high-quality office space in central Bradford. It will offer space for a range of occupiers from starts-up and growing SMEs, to larger organisations requiring flexible, modern spaces with the development set to create more than 300 jobs throughout construction, with a further 450 jobs based in the new building once complete. Simon will join the conference to give more intel on this scheme and Muse’s future plans for West Yorkshire.
