Peel L&P – Richard Mawdsley, Wirral Waters Director Richard is currently leading the delivery of Peel L&P’s Wirral Waters project, one of the largest, private sector led developments in the UK. The Wirral Waters scheme is a £4.5 billion scheme that will deliver a mixed-use, high density, and highly sustainable project that will boost the regional economy over the coming years. The scheme will feature a wide array of subsidiary developments, including the Legacy Project, the Wirral Street Car and Egerton Village. Approximately 13,500 homes and 20,000 jobs are set to be delivered under the scheme over the next quarter of a century. St Helens Council – Lisa Harris, Executive Director of Place Services St Helens Borough Council has been working with the English Cities Fund to prepare planning applications for the first phases of the Earlestown and St Helens Town Centre Masterplan Development Frameworks. The St Helens Town Centre Masterplan alone will cost in the region of £300m to successfully implement plans. The schemes are predicted to take over 10 years to roll out, with the first phases to be delivered over the next couple of years. Capital & Centric – John Moffat, Developer Capital and Centric describe the Littlewoods project as one of their most ambitious projects yet. The developer plans to restore Liverpool’s iconic Littlewoods Building into a world-class film and tv studios. Located at Edge Lane, the 270,000 sq ft development will create around 4,000 jobs and is set to cost around £70m to deliver. John is Capital and Centric’s lead on the Littlewoods scheme, he joins us to share insight into the project and discuss further plans for the region. University of Liverpool – Dr Carol Costello, Director of People and Services The University of Liverpool plays a key role in attracting, producing, and retaining a skilled workforce in the region. The educational institution provides high-quality living and learning services for over 22,000 students on campus, as well as providing over 400 undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The university is looking to expand via its Masterplan Estate Strategy 2026+ featuring a £1bn vision to develop its estates over the next 15 years and beyond. Early projects to be delivered through the masterplan include a new £23m showcase building for the School of Architecture and a £42m Electrical Engineering and Electronics facility. National Highways – Stewart Jones, Regional Delivery Director (North West) Stewart Jones is Delivery Director for National Highways Regional Investment Programme in the North West. National Highways are working on several projects across Lancashire to help develop the region’s infrastructure. They are working in line with Lancashire County Council on the £200m Preston Western Distributor Road (PWDR) project that is being constructed to the west of Preston to a new junction with Blackpool Road at Lea.
