Ged Fitzgerald; Chief Executive, Liverpool City CouncilGed 2 Resized

Ged Fitzgerald is Chief Executive of Liverpool City Council. The city of Liverpool is pivotal in promoting and positioning Liverpool City Region as a key economic driver within the UK.

Ged began his career in Local Government with Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council in Merseyside in 1983 and held a range of senior posts in both Economic Development and Strategic Policy before becoming a Chief Executive of a local authority since 2001.

Liverpool City Council has undergone a process of radical change under Ged’s leadership as the city responds to unprecedented funding reductions. Innovation, partnership working and doing more with less are central to ensuring the city remains a vibrant, attractive international destination where people want to live, work and visit.

Ged sits on the Board of Solace (the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives), a Non-Executive Director of the Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool, Chair of the University of Liverpool’s Heseltine Institute Advisory Board, Chair of Business in the Community Liverpool City Region Leadership Board and a trustee of the Mayor’s Hope Fund, a registered charity established to alleviate food poverty in Liverpool.

Tim is a Co Founder of Capital and Centric Plc along with Adam Higgins, a property development and investment company based in Manchester. They have developed £30m of really cool looking property in the past three years. Current projects include the iconic £18m Littlewoods Complex in Liverpool, the modernist £7m Tithebarn Project in Liverpool and the £100m MMU Campus in Manchester city centre. They are developing offices, apartments, leisure destinations and industrial warehouses. Everything they build is super energy efficient too!


Sudarghara Dusanj; Managing Director, Robert Cain Brewery & Pub CoSugs Dan Resized

Sudarghara Dusanj or Sid as he is often referred to is a leisure and property entrepreneur.  With business interests across the country, Sid has achieved a considerable amount in his 28 years in business.

Started working for a stock broker in the City of London Sid left the world of stocks and shares behind to start-up businesses with his family.  The family retail operation in Kent which included fish & chip shops, news-agencies and off-licences gave Sid his grounding in understanding business and the importance of customer service.

Sid’s business experience then led to him becoming the Managing Director of a soft drinks manufacturer in the West Midlands taking their turnover from below half a million pounds to £5m and then onto Cains in Liverpool where the organisation was listed on the London Stock Exchange AIM Market.  Sid has experience of managing organisations with multimillion pound turnover.

Property has always been a passion of Sid’s and he is currently the Managing Director of two organisations with portfolios in the North West and West Midlands England.

Sid is also the Managing Director of Cains Brewery Village.  An ambitious £175m project to bring back the magnificent Grade II listed Robert Cain Brewery that will form the heart of a vibrant urban village and will underpin the regeneration of the Baltic Triangle into an area thriving with creative and independent minded companies and individuals. The site has been granted planning approval for over 1 million Sq Ft of development including 725 new homes, a supermarket, an art-house cinema, a boutique hotel, weekend street markets and a craft-brewery that will keep the Cains brand alive.

Family plays as important part in Sid’s life and he is married with 3 children. He is currently doing an Executive MBA degree at Warwick Business School.

Colin joined family-owned property developers Bruntwood in June 2010 to work on the diversification of their portfolio in Manchester, with a focus on creating new space for the science & biomedical businesses along the Oxford Road Corridor.

Projects included the £21m Citylabs development (the former Royal Eye Hospital), the £70m redevelopment of Manchester Business School,  for the University of Manchester, and Bruntwood’s acquisition of a controlling interest in Manchester  Science Partnerships.

As Director of Property Marketing, Colin has also been working to differentiate Bruntwood’s product in Manchester, Cheshire, Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham and to promote inspirational workspace to the creative, media and digital sector.

He has also taken the lead in Liverpool, with a mission to encourage more firms to start up, grow and expand in the city. Projects here include the development of The Cotton Quarter and small suite schemes such as The Loft and the Trading Rooms.

Colin started his career in the music business managing bands on Factory, A&M and Virgin America Records, as well as owning the Boardwalk nightclub and music venue (1986-99).

He went on to produce numerous major events before becoming joint Marketing Director for Manchester Enterprises and MIDAS, Manchester’s Inward Investment agency, in 2004.

Colin became Chief Executive of MIDAS in 2005 where he played the lead role in promoting the city region to international firms and innovative global businesses. During his tenure he attracted over 300 new businesses and over £300m of investment to Greater Manchester.

Colin is married with three sons and lives near Ormskirk. He is a keen triathlete and former amateur rugby union player.
