Future Development Plans – Republic of Ireland

This webinar will look to highlight development opportunities and regeneration schemes across the Republic of Ireland whilst looking to drive investment and economic growth into the country.

As we collectively move away from the global Covid-19 outbreak global leaders have set in motion their plans for major economic recovery. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development predicts the Irish economy will grow by more than 4% this year. From Galway to Cork to Dublin, the Republic of Ireland has the potential to be a hub for worldwide investment with major infrastructure and commercial projects, new towns, and residential developments.

We will gather the key decision makers and major stakeholders from both the public and private sector to discuss their plans for a greener, smarter, and healthier Republic of Ireland.

Speakers for this event include:

  • VU.CITY – Charlotte McCarthy is a Business Development Manager at VU.CITY. Charlotte is leading business development for VU.CITY in Dublin and Belfast. VU.CITY is a game-changing solution for urban development teams. Speeding up all aspects of the planning process from design concept stage right through to planning application submissions. Their accurate 3D city models allow for collaborative and virtual feasibility and impact studies for proposed developments across 20+ cities in the UK and internationally. Charlotte has previous experience in the built environment in Facilities Management, PropTech, and Placemaking.
  • The Abbey Quarter Partnership – The Abbey Quarter Partnership is a joint venture between Kilkenny Council and the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA). The partnership will oversee a major regeneration project at the 10-acre Smithwick’s Brewery site. This includes seven new blocks on the former brewery site and 14 new blocks overall to create a new urban quarter, approximately 645,000 sq ft of mixed use residential, commercial, retail, education, and civic space. The first phase of the development known as “The Brewhouse” will comprise of 50,000 sq ft of grade-A office accommodation and is set to be complete in October 2021.
  • Cork City Council – Cork City Council has recently unveiled plans for the first phase of a €46 million public realm project in advance of the construction of a €80 million event centre. The first phase of the project will see one of the most historic parts of the city redeveloped through a €10 million to €15million investment as a part of the overall €46 million public realm investment for the city.
  • Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) – The Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) is the national social housing federation, representing over 270 housing associations that manage approximately 40,000 homes across Ireland. The ICSH encourages and assist the development of a range of social housing services to complementing the role of local housing authorities to meet the needs of various groups of the population such as the, elderly, people with disabilities, the homeless and families on low incomes.
  • Clúid Housing – Clúid Housing is the largest approved housing body in Ireland, providing over 8,000 affordable, high-quality homes across the country. The housing provider has an ambitious growth strategy to add an additional 3,000 homes to its portfolio by the end of 2022. Clúid recently entered into a financing agreement with Legal and General providing a long-term €54 million, becoming the first approved housing body to secure a financing agreement of this size with an international institutional asset manager. Under this agreement Clúid are to deliver 200 new social homes.
