CoCity are leaders in providing vibrant modern spaces to live and work-building mixed use communities across the UK – focusing on Community based living. Dundee City Council – Robin Presswood, Executive Director – City Development

Dundee City Council is driving forward the £1 billion redevelopment of Dundee’s Waterfront, increasing employment and local economy. Robin will be joining the session to share Dundee’s ambitions around Housing and BtR.

Scottish Enterprise – Lindsay Methven, Senior Manager, Innovation and Place Projects

Lindsay has a background in real estate agency and development working in the private sector for over 10 years. In her present role at Scottish Enterprise Lindsay leads a team that supports Foreign Direct Investment into Scotland, supports the development of innovative places and ecosystems, and works with companies to improve productivity outcomes through capital investment; this work involves working with both public and private stakeholders across projects and programmes to achieve outcomes.

Buccleuch Property – David Peck, Managing Director

Buccleuch Property is aiming to invest £7.6 million investment into the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland – the project promises to bring thousands of high skilled jobs and further business to the region. David will be joining the session to share thought leadership on the future of Scotland’s Economy.

Edinburgh City Council – David Cooper, Head of Development and Regeneration

Amidst the mass regeneration of Scotland, City of Edinburgh Council is pioneering a city that is on root to being sustainable and net zero by 2030. The council are investing in major redevelopments which include £1.3 billion in the regeneration of Granton Waterfront, an additional £207 million in the Newhaven tramline, and £100 million in the redevelopment of Edinburgh Ocean Terminal. David will be joining us to share intel on development and regeneration plans, views on sustainable building and how to support industrial and mixed-use generation.

Stagecoach West Scotland – Fiona Doherty, Managing Director

Stagecoach West Scotland covers 7 local authority areas and over 10,000 square miles of the country. Operating out of 7 depots across the regions, the business is a major employer with 1,000 staff and a fleet of around 400 buses and coaches. In recent years Stagecoach launched fully electric buses across Scotland that will help reach its target of a zero-emission UK bus fleet by 2035. This investment saw Inverness become the UK’s first fully electric city, and Perth and Dunfermline soon followed. Within 2023 Stagecoach is to introduce over 159 fully electric vehicles to its fleet, bringing the total of electric vehicles across the UK to 343. Fiona is leading on Stagecoach’s net-zero transition in their West Scotland operation and will be on hand to discuss their future investment.

Vattenfall Heat – John Sammon, Account Director

Since moving into renewables in 2010, John has worked across multiple technologies including solar, wind, battery storage and low carbon heat. During 7 years with Scottish Water Horizons he helped develop and deliver over 40 solar projects and 3 of the UK’s first heat from wastewater energy centres. John joined Vattenfall Heat UK in February 2022 as Account Director to drive their development of city-scale district heat networks in Scotland.

Barry is head of Shoosmiths’ Glasgow office and an experienced real estate lawyer. He has a broad spectrum of expertise in all areas of real estate work across the UK with particular focus on the commercial development and investment markets, residential development and housebuilding (including market leading work in the PRS and BTR sectors). He has acted for developers, landowners (both in the private and public sector), funders and investors with a key emphasis on complex development arrangements, including conditional contracts, option arrangements, joint ventures, leasing, property finance arrangements and lending, as well as tax efficient property structures and vehicles.
