Rob Pearson, Head of Area; Sheffield City Region & The Humber, HCARob Pearson Resized

Rob has a background in focussed regeneration delivery agencies including Telford New Town, Sheffield Urban Development Corporation and English Partnerships, the government’s regeneration agency.  His career has also included working for Sheffield City Council and, within the private sector, a regeneration and construction consultant with Bucknall Austin.  Rob headed up National Programmes within EP before its merger into the Homes and Communities Agency. He is currently Head of Area for Sheffield City Region and The Humber where his team manages a range of affordable housing and market investment programmes and the delivery of major projects including reclamation and development for housing of Avenue Coking Works and growth of the Advanced Manufacturing Park Technology Centre in Sheffield City Region.  In the Humber, his team is opening up Goole 36 for over 4,000 new jobs.  He recently finished a 5 year term on Rotterdam’s International Advisory Board and chairs the Yorkshire and Humberside ERDF Access to Finance committee.

Mark was appointed as Director of Estates and Facilities on the 1st July 2010 in which time the department has gained “Investors In People” Gold standard and achieved IS0 14001 and ISO 5001 for the whole institution, a first in the sector. Mark leads on the development of high quality commercial, facilities management and estates services and academic timetabling.A graduate of Sheffield City Polytechnic Mark spent seven years in the hotel and leisure industry before joining the Hospitality Management Team at Keele University where he worked on a major investment programme in its catering and conferencing facilities.

Mark has chaired a number of sector wide groups, professional bodies and value for money studies including work with University UK on the delivery of the UUK Code of Practice for Student Housing, chairing the Sector Advisory Group for the Code as well as operating the administration and authoring the sectors annual reports until 2011.

He gained a Masters Degree in 1999 from Sheffield Hallam University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Mark is currently overseeing a major estates capital programme at Sheffield Hallam University and is involved in the Sheffield City Region chairing the Public Sector Property Forum and as a member of the Property and Construction sub group of the Local Enterprise Partnership.


Simon Green, Executive Director; Sheffield City CouncilSimon Green Resized

Simon Green is the Executive Director, Place and a member of Sheffield City Council’s Executive Management Team. Simon’s career has taken him across the world, including to the USA where he was Business Development Manager in the attraction and retention of businesses for the Yorkshire and Humber Region. He joined Sheffield City Council in August 2009 from Nottingham City Council where he was Director of Sustainable Development, where he had corporate responsibility for economic policy and development, climate change and the sustainability agenda.

Previous to this, Simon worked for a number of organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region primarily focusing on Economic Development. His responsibility as Executive Director, Place includes the economy, planning, transport and environmental issues with an emphasis on creating places across Sheffield which residents, businesses and visitors value and want to live and invest in.  Recent and ongoing projects include; High Speed 2, Sheffield Retail Quarter, The Moor redevelopment, Sheffield Housing Company and City Centre Masterplanning.


Peter Storey, Head of MEGZ; Markham ValePeter Storey Resized

 Peter Storey is Derbyshire County Council’s Head of Markham Employment Growth Zone with responsibility for managing the County’s largest ever regeneration project through a public private sector partnership.

He is a Chartered Civil Engineer, with over thirty years’ experience of working in the environmental and economic regeneration sectors.  He sits on the Executive Committee of the British Land Reclamation Society
