Lead by procurement and frameworks guru Gerard Toplass, our panel of experts will discuss the real drivers behind social value and why it lies at the heart of all procurement, topics will include:

  • Social value in infrastructure – the building blocks for an economy
  • Social value in training and people – the intangible infrastructure and how we bridge between where we are today and where we need to be with people, skills etc
  • Social value in the private sector – will they follow the public sector lead, and if they do how powerful could it be, and if they don’t where does that leave us?

Social Profit Calculator – Dr Victoria Johnson, Principal Consultant

Dr Victoria Johnson is Principal Consultant at Social Profit Calculator. At SPC, Victoria leads the consultancy team and drives the development of our methodologies. She is a highly experienced researcher and policy analyst with over 15 years’ experience across a diverse range of fields, from economic policy and sociology of consumption to policy evaluation to innovation studies. Victoria is passionate about developing robust methodologies to evaluate social value across a range of domains.

Social Profit Calculator – Tom Farley, CEO

Tom joined SPC as CEO in 2021. Tom’s background is in commercial real estate where he worked for and advised institutional investment firms and real estate companies in the UK and Europe. Social value has always played an important role in this, but Tom was drawn to SPC to help truly evidence the social return on investment being created. Tom will lead a round table discussion on the private sector ‘bridge’ to social value.

Grant Thornton UK – Irina Velkova, Associate Director, FSA

Irina is an Associate Director in Grant Thornton’s Regulatory Advisory practice and advises financial services institutions across Banking, Insurance and Investment Management. She is also part of Grant Thornton’s ESG subject-matter team.

Irina specialises in large and complex engagements, which require an innovative approach, involve multiple senior stakeholders and add tangible value.

Her role includes advising firms on new and emerging regulations, implementing improved clients’ structures, business processes and models and working with Board of Directors and C-suite stakeholders on resolving governance and regulatory matters.

Her expertise is focused on corporate governance, conduct, risk management and culture, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) in the last couple of years. She has worked on these matters with some of the largest financial services institutions in the country, giving her unique insight as to how some common challenges can be resolved to the best of client’s interests.

PAGABO – Lord Bob Kerslake, Chairman

Lord Kerslake has many years of public sector experience with roles including secretary for the Department for Communities and Local Government and chief executive of the Homes and Communities Agency. As non-executive chairman, Lord Kerslake works alongside the rest of the Pagabo board to help the business become a key player in the UK’s future public sector procurement policies, as well as in Pagabo’s role to enable social value and develop innovative ways of delivering procurement.

Built Environment Networking – Fahmida Nisa, Host & Event Manager

Nisa is a research, marketing and content specialist at Built Environment Networking. She will be hosting a number of the sessions throughout the day, running the day’s proceedings and managing the interaction between our virtual delegates and the speakers.

GK Strategy – Martin Summers, Associate Director

Martin is Head of Investor Services at GK Strategy, where he also leads the ESG practice. He has over 20 years’ experience in procurement, sustainability and regulation, working across the built environment, energy, FMCG and B2G sectors.

Maven Capital Partners – Andrew Craig, Partner

Andrew is one of the founding partners of Maven Capital Partners, which was established in 2009, one of the UK’s leading private equity firms which focuses on backing entrepreneurial SME’s across the UK. He is a member of the Maven Investment Committee and has over 25 years’ experience of investing in UK SME’s.

Andrew joined Aberdeen Asset Management in 2004 having previously been with Bank of Scotland, prior to that he worked in Business and Corporate Banking at Clydesdale Bank for 10 years. He is a Member of both the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland and the Institute of Directors and is also Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association Membership Engagement Committee. Andrew is also a trustee of Launch Foods, a Glasgow based charity which aims to tackle child food poverty.
