The speakers include: Southampton City Council – Matt Hill, Economic Development Lead With over £1 billon in development currently in for planning across the city, Southampton is set to see transformative change over the coming years. Over 4 different sites approximately 3,400 new homes will be developed as well as leisure and commercial space and new road infrastructure. Matt will join the conference to update on the progress of these projects and their plans to continue sustainable developing and regenerating across the city. Faithful+Gould – Megan Carter, Director THAT Group – Peter Tisdale, Chief Executive Officer That Group are lighting up the South Coast with their latest hotel developments in Bournemouth and Portsmouth. Their Portsmouth Point project will be split across two towers Portsmouth Point will boast approximately 170 residential apartments as well as a 165 bed Hampton by Hilton. In Bournemouth they are redeveloping The Echo, an important Art Deco building, built in 1932. Once finished this 65,000 sq.ft, building will feature an extended food and drink offering and a workspace as well as bedroom accommodation on the upper floors. Peter will be on hand to discuss their schemes and the role they are playing in revitalising the South Coast. Brighton Marina Group – Katie Sullivan, Managing Director “Bustling with life. Bursting with energy. Brimming with possibilities”. Brighton Marina Group own and manage around 1000 homes and 500 sq ft of commercial space over 127 acres, as well as an active marina designed to suit the marine environment which makes them an integral part of the Brighton and wider South Coast economy. With creating equitable economic growth in mind Katie will be on hand to discuss Brighton Marina Group’s future ambitions and the role the marina will play in creating new opportunities for local businesses, and creating economic growth in Brighton and the wider region. Muse – Rob Allan, Development Director Muse is one of the UK’s best in mixed-use development and urban regeneration, with a forward development pipeline of £2.5bn. A true national developer, Muse delivers innovative places and spaces through collaboration, bringing together the best of the public and private sector to drive transformational change and maximise community benefit. Robert is a development director at Muse who joined in 2021 to lead on the delivery of a number of schemes in the South and will be on hand to reveal their plans across the region. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council – Olga Blinova, Development Manager Olga will be on hand to update on Basing View, the 65-acre business park situated in the heart of Basingstoke. The redevelopment programme is being brought forward through a close partnership between the council and its development partner, national urban regeneration specialists, Muse Developments. It includes plans to develop in excess of 700,000 square feet on various council-owned land parcels within Basing View amounting to over 15 acres. Additionally, the council are leading on the Manydown Garden Village project – a thriving new community of approximately 3,520 new homes, two new primary schools, land for a new secondary school plus a new 250 acre country park near Basingstoke – set to be delivered in a unique partnership between Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Hampshire County Council and Urban&Civic, supported by the Wellcome Trust. Brighton & Hove City Council – Geoff Raw, Chief Executive One of the UK’s most active councils on the development front, Brighton and Hove City council are involved as lead developers or enablers in 9 major schemes. As part of this event Geoff will set out the council’s regeneration ambitions, in particular highlighting equitable growth plans through their drive towards net zero, the delivery of 1000 new homes in the city, reimagining their city centre and boosting tourism through development. Transport for the South East – Sarah Valentine, Head of Analysis and Appraisal With a plethora of major investments and area studies taking place across the region, Transport for the South East are integral to driving £200bn of economic growth for the South Coast as well as UK PLC. As part of this session Sarah will outline their headline projects and talk about the wider role transport is playing in pioneering local placemaking ambitions. Socius – Joel Colthart, Senior Project Manager Socius are accelerating their ambitions to deliver £1bn of impactful development around the UK with their Edward Street Quarter project in Brighton. The development will see 168 apartments, 110,000 sq ft of office space, and 40,000 sq ft of retail, leisure and restaurant space built in a £110 million pound investment. Joel is leading on the delivery of this project and will be on hand to discuss Socius’ wider ambitions on the South Coast. Taylor Wimpey – Chris Brocklebank, Strategic Regional Land Director Taylor Wimpey are pressing ahead with plans for the latest phase of their Bordon regeneration development which will see an additional 315 homes built. Elsewhere planning has been submitted for 302 homes in Winchester. Chris will join the conference to discuss their plans for the South Coast and wider South East and reveal their future ambitions with over 10,000 homes set to be built over the next few years as part of their current UK wide pipeline. Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership – Vinita Nawathe, Executive Director Since launching in 2011, Dorset LEP has generated £326 million of government, European and match funded investment to the region. Their capital investment programme alone has secured £274 million for Dorset – by 2025 they expect to have transformed this into £1.55 billion. Vinita has just been named as the LEP’s new Executive Director and will be on hand to discuss their ambitions and plans to secure more capital investment to the region and how this investment will fund future development and inclusive economic growth. Tellon Capital – James Burchell, Co-Founder and Partner Tellon Capital are bringing forward one of the most significant schemes in Southampton which will see 519 flats and townhouses, plus 2,515sqm of commercial space, developed on a historical site near the centre of the city. James will be on hand to give more details about this complex scheme, and speak about Tellon’s commitment to making this significant rejuvenation a reality. New Forest District Council – Claire Upton-Brown, Chief Planning Officer New Forest District Council are accelerating the delivery of their housing plans which include 600+ new council homes by 2026 as part of their pledge for 361 homes to be built per year across the district. The council are also planning their first low-carbon and zero carbon homes for the district and Clarie will be on hand to reveal more details on their plans and the council’s housing development schemes. University of Portsmouth – Professor Jeremy Howells, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research, Innovation, and External Relations The University of Portsmouth have major plans to expand their campus with a new £135m Business, Law and Humanity building in the pipeline. The University and Portsmouth City Council have also created a strategic partnership to boost economic development in the city with ambitions to become climate positive and achieve net-zero carbon emissions to support innovation – contributing and supporting the wider cultural development of the city. Coast to Capital LEP – Julie Kapsalis, Chair Julie Kapsalis has worked in economic development for over 15 years with a particular focus on enterprise, skills and social inclusion. She is a Board Member at Gatwick Diamond Business and has recently taken up the position of Deputy Principal and Commercial Director at the North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT). Julie will join the conference to speak about the LEP’s future plans to drive economic growth in the region including C2C’s investment in local Institutes of Technology and in the University of Chichester’s School of Nursing and Allied Health. Sustrans – Roddy Crockett, Head of Partnerships and Public Affairs – England South Sustrans is a United Kingdom based walking, wheeling and cycling body, and the custodian of the National Cycle Network. Its flagship project is the National Cycle Network, which has created 12,763 miles of signed cycle routes throughout the UK. Their recent report shows that active travel generates £36.5bn to the UK economy annually and calls on the government to protect the £4bn pot earmarked to ‘level up walking and cycling across the country. Roddy will be on hand on behalf of Sustrans talking about how they are collaborating with a number of developers and local authorities across the South Coast to ensure green walking and cycling infrastructure features heavily across a number of the region’s game changing developments while unveiling her organisation’s future strategy.
