Future Development Plans – Staffordshire

With over 20 key major development sites being brought forward across Staffordshire, this event brings together the major voices behind a host of large-scale regeneration schemes to share insight into how the county is approaching placemaking, inclusive economic growth and net zero.

Delegates will hear exclusive intel and be made aware of collaboration opportunities with some of the areas leading regenerators.

  • Staffordshire University – As the University progresses towards its 2030 Campus Masterplan which will have a major impact in attracting and retaining talent within the region, Professor Barnes joins the event to detail the institution’s role in placemaking, how their estate is evolving to meet the demands of research, students, and the wider Staffordshire community. Projects include the £40m Catalyst Building, the next stage of their London campus expansion named SUL2 and an exciting £6m Nursery and Forest School.
  • Staffordshire County Council – Ranging from the £500m Stafford Station Gateway Masterplan, the 10,000 home Meecebrook Garden Village, the reimagination of Staffordshire Riverside or the 1.6 hectare Stafford Northern Town Centre regeneration, there is a plethora of opportunity in Staffordshire. Alan joins the event to set out the county’s vision for growth and talk in depth about various schemes that will be coming forward in the next year.
  • Capital and Centric – Developers behind the £75m Staffordshire Goods Yard project, Capital and Centric are integral to Staffordshire County Council’s planned regeneration ambition. As part of this event Tim will talk about their development and how it will act as a catalyst for further investment and other capital projects in Stoke while also discussing how his organisation fit into wider placemaking objectives.
  • Keele University – In 2017 the University agreed the Keele Deal | Economy, a £70m plan developed with civic partners to realise the benefits from research and innovation, generate growth, improve healthcare and put the region at the heart of the transition to a lower carbon economy. This led to one of the largest university-led regeneration programmes in England, created a world-leading smart energy demonstrator (SEND) and four new innovation centres. SEND will soon be delivering over 4,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year through its state of the art infrastructure, and is working with civic and industry partners to position the area as a UK leader in the development of decarbonised energy systems. With 40% growth over the last 5 years, Keele’s Science & Innovation Park and is now home to 56 knowledge-intensive businesses, and hub for the 700 businesses working with the University.
