Aman Dalvi; Corporate Director for Development & Renewal, London Borough of Tower HamletsAman Dalvi Resized

Aman Dalvi has been Corporate Director of Development and Renewal in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets since 2009.  Under his leadership, the borough is producing the highest volume of housing in the Country and has been doing so for the past five years.  Some notable achievements are the Ocean Estate and Robin Hood Gardens.  Aman is also responsible for planning and his team have recently approved the largest planning application in the Country – Wood Wharf and the News International site.

Prior to joining Tower Hamlets, Aman was Chief Executive of an Economic Development Agency where he was instrumental in working with partners to relocate businesses from the Olympic Park.  Aman has also led a large developing housing association as its Chief Executive and worked for the Housing Corporation as Assistant Director of Investment.

Aman has served on the board of a number of organisation which include, English Partnerships, Future of London and the Olympic Park Legacy Company.  Aman was Chair of the Anchor Trust until recently.


Neal Hunt; Director of Development, Poplar HARCANeal Hunt Resized

Neal has worked in construction and development for 30 years and has considerable knowledge and experience of the affordable housing sector. He is a Chartered Builder.

He currently manages Poplar HARCA’s award winning urban development team and is responsible for making their £1.7 billion Reshaping Poplar plan happen.

Before joining Poplar HARCA he worked in the private sector for a number of leading organisations, including the Llewellyn Group, where he was the director responsible for the London and South East Regions.

Gerry McDonald; Principal & Chief Executive, Tower Hamlets CollegeGerry McDonald Resized

Gerry became principal in April 2013 following almost four years as the college’s Vice Principal – Curriculum & Standards. Gerry is a qualified business studies teacher who has worked in the sector since 1993. He holds business degrees from the University of West of England and Aston and a PGCE from Manchester Metropolitan University. Gerry has worked in sixth form and further education colleges in Birmingham and London, leading on business development, mergers, curriculum improvement, inspection and culture change. Gerry is also a Director of London Capital Colleges (representing London’s largest colleges) and the college’s recruitment company, TowerSkillsRecruitment Services. He sits on the college’s Corporation as an ex-officio member and also serves on Finance and General Purposes, Search and Curriculum & Quality sub-committees. Gerry is a co-opted committee member of Association of Colleges London following his election to the main AoC board in December 2014. He also serves on the AoC’s national Employment and Audit Committees.

Tower Hamlets College was rated Good (with Outstanding features in December 2013) and Outstanding for financial health (March 2015). Total income is £21m (50% EFA, 30% SFA, 20% other).
