Welsh Housing Investment & Build to Rent Development Conference

Over £2bn is set to be spent on development across the housing sector in Wales over the next ten years.

Welsh Government has recently pledged £1bn for Social Housing development, in addition, a further £72m loan facility for private sector housing developers as they strive to build 7500 new homes per year over the next decade. Allied to that, a further £580m has been allocated for decarbonisation of existing stock as the race to net zero goes on. This conference brings together developers, investors, policy makers and the built environment supply chain to explore a variety of different residential focused schemes across Wales. Delegates will hear about collaboration opportunities, intel on previously unknown schemes and take a glimpse into the future of delivering inclusive communities in Wales.

Development Bank of Wales – Cenydd Rowlands, Property Director

The Development Bank of Wales is offering £100 million investment to Net Zero incentives – renewable and energy efficient measures over the next five to seven years. As Property Director at the development bank, Cenydd will be well placed to give us intel on their development funding activities and exciting details on their new green initiative.

Swansea Council – Cllr Andrea Lewis, Deputy Leader

As part of a wider £1bn Swansea regeneration programme the city council have partnered with Urban Splash to deliver a £750m city centre masterplan to be delivered in phases over 10 years. Key schemes include the Copr Bay digital arena project, Swansea Central North- a mixed use neighbourhood with business at its heart- and Castle Square. Cllr Lewis joins the event to go into depth on delivery timeline and opportunities for collaboration.

Adra Housing Association – Iwan Trefor Jones, Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Adra Housing Association is one of the largest social landlords in North Wales. Currently developing 19 projects -with over 800 affordable homes across the region. Future developments in Gwynedd and Caernarfon are comprised of 44 new homes – 21 of which will be for over 55’s.  Iwan- Deputy Chief Executive will be joining the conference to share intel on affordable residential development, community regeneration and the challenges of accelerating the Welsh housing stock.

Linc Cymru Housing Association – Louise Attwood, Executive Director Property

Linc Cymru Housing Association have big plans to deliver thousands of affordable homes over the coming years. Louise will join the conference to share exclusive details on the five-storey scheme in Caerphilly and their planned investment into Sunnyside in South Wales while also touching on their drive to use MMC as a delivery tool.

Packaged Living – Ed Ellerington, Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Packaged Living is a bespoke Build to Rent developer and operator which works across the residential property lifecycle: acquiring land, gaining planning, building out and ultimately managing homes within the Private Rented Sector. They have a major presence in Milton Keynes with their JV partner, Affinius Capital and recently purchased a former multi-storey car park site in central MK where they are planning to deliver 250 BtR homes.

Taff Housing Association – Helen White, Chief Executive Officer

Taff Housing association manages over 1,500 homes across Cardiff. Recently gaining £25 million in funding, which will be used to fund a development programme targeting, 325 new homes by 2025/26. Helen will be joining the session to share intel on housing needs of the region, new development plans and challenges of redevelopment.

Lovell Partnership – Shane Jay, Technical Director

Lovell Partnership is an innovator in residential development and regeneration – aiming to deliver 900 new homes across Wales and providing 3 award winning regeneration projects. This includes the regeneration of ‘The Mill, Canton’, which is worth £100M providing 800-home urban village and 1000 new jobs to the area, the project is due for completion in 2024.  Shane will be joining the session to discuss development plans and provide her perspective on building homes of the future.

Cardiff Community Housing Association – Gareth Davies, Development Director

As Wales redevelops its landscape, Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA) is playing its part in tackling climate change by decarbonising its homes for more sustainable and inclusive living spaces, aiming to reach ‘Net Zero’ by 2045.  The non-profit organisation provides 3000 affordable homes across Cardiff, with further new developments in the pipeline. Gareth will be joining this session to share intel on these development plans, decarbonisation and delivering inclusive communities.
