Welsh Housing Investment & Build to Rent Development Conference

Over £2bn is set to be spent on development across the housing sector in Wales over the next ten years.

Welsh Government has recently pledged £1bn for Social Housing development, in addition, a further £72m loan facility for private sector housing developers as they strive to build 7500 new homes per year over the next decade. Allied to that, a further £580m has been allocated for decarbonisation of existing stock as the race to net zero goes on. This conference brings together developers, investors, policy makers and the built environment supply chain to explore a variety of different residential focused schemes across Wales. Delegates will hear about collaboration opportunities, intel on previously unknown schemes and take a glimpse into the future of delivering inclusive communities in Wales.

Swansea Council – Cllr Andrea Lewis, Cabinet Member – Climate Change & Service Transformation (Deputy Leader)

Wales is undergoing £4.8 billion ‘Levelling-Up’ Regeneration, investing in building infrastructure, heritage sites and redevelopment. Swansea council is no different, recently announcing £1.3bn investment in Swansea Bay City Deal, which is predicted to create 9000 jobs. The development includes Digital Infrastructure, Innovative Housing Programme and Port development for sustainable energy. The development is providing opportunities for major upskilling in the area, economic growth and the drive to ‘net zero’ by 2030. Councillor Andrea Lewis will be joining us on this session to provide intel on development plans, housing and sustainable regeneration in Swansea.

Development Bank of Wales – Cenydd Rowlands, Property Director

The Development Bank of Wales is integral to the development strategy for the country, injecting over £2 billion worth of investment into the Welsh economy in areas such as housing, renewable energy and social enterprise. As Property Director at the development bank, Cenydd will be well placed to give us insight into the current investment and development challenges, intel on their development funding activities and exciting details on their new green initiative.

Linc Cymru Housing Association – Louise Attwood, Executive Director Property

Linc Cymru Housing Association have big plans to deliver thousands of affordable homes over the coming years. Louise will join the conference to share exclusive details on the five-storey scheme in Caerphilly and their planned investment into Sunnyside in South Wales while also touching on their drive to use MMC as a delivery tool.

Adra Housing Association – Iwan Trefor Jones, Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Adra Housing association is one of the largest social landlords’ housings over 14,000 in north Wales and the first to launch its decarbonisation strategy in 2020 for ‘Net Zero’ by 2030- investing millions in retro fit 137 homes in 2021. Alan will be joins the session to share development plans, retro fit, the impact of second home tax and perspective on what needs to be done to support Housing Associations and regeneration efforts, in the effort to building the neighbourhoods of the future and accelerating the delivery of housing stock.

Taff Housing Association – Helen White, Chief Executive Officer

Taff Housing is a non-profit organisation, investing in building homes and communities where people can thrive – delivering 325 new homes a year.  They also provide support services to over 1,000 people across South Wales,  aiming to build as many new homes as possible to help solve the housing crisis by 2024. As Chief Executive Helen joins us in this session to share intel on current schemes, as well as her views on inclusive communities and challenges in tacking the housing crisis in the Wales.

Packaged Living – Ed Ellerington, Founder

As the demand for Build-to-Rent grows post pandemic, Packaged living are at the forefront of the private rented sector creating sustainable developments with the focus on local living.  Packaged Living are striving to develop a new regeneration of homes across Wales with the recent £65 million proposal for a 17-storey residential development, creating 331 new homes in Cardiff. Ed will join the session to share intel on these development plans, views on sustainable, low carbon building, and perspective on what needs to be done to support the acceleration of the delivery of housing stock.

Lovell – Gemma Clissett, Regional Partnerships Director

Lovell Partnership is an innovator in residential development and regeneration – aiming to deliver 900 new homes across Wales and providing 3 award winning regeneration projects. This includes the regeneration of ‘The Mill, Canton’, which is worth £100M providing 800-home urban village and 1000 new jobs to the area, the project is due for completion in 2024.  Gemma will be joining the session to discuss development plans and provide her perspective on building homes of the future.

Cardiff Community Housing Association – Gareth Davies, Development Director

As Wales redevelops its landscape, Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA) is playing its part in tackling climate change by decarbonising its homes for more sustainable and inclusive living spaces, aiming to reach ‘Net Zero’ by 2045.  The non-profit organisation provides 3000 affordable homes across Cardiff, with further new developments in the pipeline. Gareth will be joining this session to share intel on these development plans, decarbonisation and delivering inclusive communities.
