SPEAKERS & CONFERENCE AGENDA

We’re going to be hearing from those responsible for driving economic growth within the West of England – with leaders from both the public and private sector – along with plenty of networking time to make new connections. We’ll be hearing about how we can collaborate to unlock and maximise the potential of the region – enabling homes, jobs and regeneration – whilst discovering exclusive development plans and insights.

Keynotes:

We’ll hear from three regional VIP’s, who’ll deliver keynotes to establish the conference tone, speaking about the important topics and constraints, whilst aligning the audience to help deliver the vision and future aims for the West of England. Keynotes include:

Panel Discussion – Industrial Strategy:

Our first session will see key players from within the region provide exclusive insight into how the West of England is embracing the industrial strategy and how they’ll be setting up to maximise opportunities in the future. It’ll boost the local economy by ensuring investment in skills, innovation, transport and culture, and our VIP panel will discuss some of the key topics to ensure we can boost the West of England’s economy. Our panel includes Nick Sturge, Regional Chair of IoD, Mel Karam, Chief Executive at Bristol Water and Deborah Fraser, Director South West and CBI.

Presentations – Major Development Plans:

Five leading developers will share presentations on their ongoing and future development plans across the West of England as they contribute to the economic growth story of the region. They’ll be leading key strategic developments to boost jobs, homes and opportunities.

  • Acorn Property Group will share a presentation on some of their exciting developments across the West of England, including their transformational scheme of the former Old Brooks Dye Works on the outskirts of Bristol, and the riverside project in Barnstaple which will also include 13,500sq ft on commercial space.
  • A new retail concept is being brought to the fore by Milligan Retail who’ll be sharing details of their Creative Trade concept as they look for ten sites across the UK – including Bristol – where they hope to turn legacy buildings into thriving artisan retail environments. They’re starting in Bristol with a blank canvas and they’re looking to engage with the whole supply chain – from investors, developers, land owners and more to bring their concept to life in Bristol.
  • Hammerson will talk about their portfolio including an exciting new development happening in the region.

Presentations – Housing & Residential Development Plans (Sponsored by Pegasus Group):

Four market leading players will share their ongoing and future residential and housing development plans for the West of England through onstage presentations. With the increased employment opportunities set to come to the city through the ongoing and future developments in the pipeline, along with the arrival of new and improvement infrastructure, the region will need to accelerate the delivery of residential and available housing and our speakers will talk about those projects central to ensuring the housing needs are met. Presentations from speakers will include:

  • The incredible development by YTL Developments of Filton Airfield which will be transformed into a new community alongside new infrastructure, amenities and, potentially, Bristol Arena.
  • Mayor housebuilder Taylor Wimpey will be sharing a presentation on some huge schemes they’re working on, such as the North Whiteley project delivering 3,500 homes, which will drive housing numbers across the West of England.
  • Exciting plans by regional developer Cubex Land, which include an overview of their plans for the former Avon Fire and Rescue building – one of the only remaining regeneration sites in the heart of Bristol city centre.
  • Crest Nicholson are working or and are set to announce several large residential and housing focused schemes across the West of England and this will be the main focus of their presentation.

Presentations – Infrastructure Development Plans:

From physical infrastructure to innovative and digital connectivity we’ll be hearing about the key schemes and future visions for the region and how these will play their part in the economic growth story. • Contributing more than £1bn to UK GDP the Port of Bristol is hugely important in economic growth for the region. The Bristol Port Company will discuss their ongoing and future plans as they look to keep up with the ever increasing size of vessels to maintain their position as a critical link in the West of England and wider UK supply chain – whilst highlighting the constraints in road and rail links which hamper opportunities for the port.
  • Highways England are set to drive economic growth in the West of England through their Road Investment Strategy, with the first project – a new M49 junction – about to kickstart which is expected to deliver 14,000 new jobs and provide a massive boost for the regional economy.
